Bio


French soprano Elodie Kimmel trained in the Conservatoire Supérieur in Geneva and at the Royal

College of Music. She was the winner of the inaugural Bachfest Prize competition organised by the
LBS and was awarded the Alfreda Hodgson Bursary by Making Music. She then trained at the CNIPAL
in 2009. (Marseille, France)           

Recently she has sung die Krönungsmesse in Murten Classics, Zerlina (Don Giovanni, Mozart) in
Angers-Nantes Opera, conducted by Mark Shanahan, the Messiah in Biel with Kaspar Zehnder and
the title role in Acis and Galatea in a dutch tour with Opera Louise. In June 2017 she was singing
Serpina (la Serva Padrona, Pergolesi) in Lituania and Switzerland with the Klapaida Chamber
Orchestra and she is currently singing Drusilla in Angers-Nantes Opera, conducted and staged by
Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier.

In 2007 and 2008 Elodie took part in the GFO chorus and performed the role of Emmie in Albert
Herring for Glyndebourne on Tour.               

In 2010 Elodie Kimmel was called by the Rouen Opera House to take part in their two following
seasons. There, she has performed the roles of die Erste Dame (die Zauberflöte, by Mozart)
Annabelle (L’homme qui s’efface, by Pascal Charpentier – World Première) and Barena (Jenufa, by
Janaceck), Flora, (The turn of the screw) and Luigia (Viva la Mamma, by Donizetti) and Annina
(Traviata, de Verdi).           

In concert, Elodie Kimmel sang the Gloria by Vivaldi under Jérôme Pillement with the Orchestre
d’Avignon, the Weihnachts Oratorium conducted by Oswald Sallaberger at the Opéra de Rouen,
the song cycle Chantefleurs et Chantefables by Lutoslawski with the Orchestre de Rouen Haute-
Normandie under Antony Hermus, and les Illuminations by Britten with the Orchestre de Rouen
Haute-Normandie conducted by Darel Ang. In December 2011 she sings die Prinzessin in Vom
Pagen und der Königstochter Op.140 by Schumann at la Cité de la Musique under Laurence Equilbey.          

In June 2012 she is the cover of Amour and une bergère in Hippolyte et Aricie by Rameau at the
Opéra National de Paris (Palais Garnier). In 2012-2013 she makes her début at the Théâtre des
Champs-Elysées in the roles of Cléone (Médée by Charpentier) directed by Pierre Audi and Dircée
(Médée by Cherubini) in a production directed by Krzysztof Warlikowski and conducted by
Christophe Rousset. That same season she sings Syrinx (Isis by Lully) and Aréthuse (Actéon by
Charpentier) with Le concert d’Astrée in Lille and Dijon Opera and the title role of Hippolyte et Aricie
conducted by Raphaël Pichon in Bordeaux and Opéra de Versailles.      

After giving birth to her child she returns on stage as Miss Ellen (Lakmé by Delibes), sharing the
stage with Sabine Devieilhe in Toulon Opera. She sings the Stabat Mater (Pergolesi) in Swtzerland
(Murten Classics) with Maria-Riccarda Wesseling, the Lobgesang (Mendelssohn) in Rouen Opera with Kazuki Yamada and the Weihnachts Oratorium in Biel conducted by Kaspar Zehnder. In Lille and
Dijon Opera she performs Daphné (Descente d’Orphée aux Enfers, Charpentier) and Filli (Amor vince ogni causa, Charpentier)         

Soon she will be singing a recital in Panama with the Amarillis Ensemble and die Erste Dame in Murten Classics.
