Katharine Tier

Katharine Tier

Mezzo-Soprano

Hire Katharine Tier ›
«Tier is a mezzo-soprano with excellent high notes, and the dark timbre of her voice lends the character an entirely new, rather tragically veiled contour. Balanced in all registers and sustained even in pianos, with dramatic arcs like lyrically sotto voce passages, this shining singer effortlessly stands at the center, radiating a vocal power of self evident authority as in the deeply moving suicide scene, in which she intriguingly sustains herself against the difficult abandonment of the bare death chamber and through extraordinary vocal intensity turns the evening into an event. ” (Translated from German)»
BNN Kritik (2016)
«Waltraute GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG , Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe “However, the level you should expect from the Karlsruhe House, Katharine Tier made clear. In the short Waltraute scene, suddenly everything was there: electricity, a conscious dealing with the text, and despite the slight vibrato an outstanding vocal performance. (Translated from German)»
BNN Kritik (2016)
«Carmen, CARMEN , Opera North "Miss Tier brewed an even, rich, sultry vocal delivery and coupled it with a sensuous stage presence and made this Carmen come alive and the audience believe. In short, she oozed sex appeal (and could maybe have even donemore) and made every eye fix on her when she was on stage. It was a fine performance...”»
