Recently praised for her &ldquoBig, glorious Verdi voice in the Golden Age tradition” (Bruce-Michael Gelbert, Q OnStage), Julia Anne Milin has received standing ovations from audiences worldwide.  With her very fluid line, energy and focus with spectacular high notes, Julia has sung in New York City venues such as Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall.  Recent New York appearances include Amelia in Un ballo in Maschera,  Abigaille in Nabucco, Sieglinde, Erstes Dame at Leonard Nimoy Symphony Space, and Komponist at The National Opera Center.  In 2015, Julia made her role debut in the role of Tamara in the Philadelphia premiere of The Demon, by Rubinstein.  Sung in the original Russian at The Academy of Vocal Arts. In Summer 2014 Julia performed in the Lotte Lehmann Sommerfestival Concerts and Gala in Germany, with excerpts from Der Widerspenstigen Zähmung, Norma, La forza del destino, Ariadne auf Naxos, Ernani, Il Trovatore, and Boito´s Mefistofele, where “she received thunderous applause for her impressive performance” (Märkische Allegemeine).  Other roles include Verdi’s Desdemona, Giulietta, Giorgetta, Manon Lescaut, Donna Anna, Countess, Leonora in Il Trovatore, Aida, Tosca, Minnie, --as well as Richard Strauss´ Arabella, Die Feldmarschallin, and Rachel in Halevy's La Juive. In addition to her staged work, Miss Milin is equally as accomplished on the concert stage and on film.  In 2013, Julia opened the prestigious Whakatane Summer Arts Festival in New Zealand, where she was praised for her “Powerful Soprano” (Arts Whakatane).  She was also a member of the repertoire company, Pacific Opera, in New York City where she was featured in roles of Desdemona, Mimi, and Giulietta (Les Contes d'Hoffmann). In collaboration with Engel Entertainment, the appearances were filmed both in live performance and on location to be aired on cable television in the USA and eventually internationally. Contributing to new works, Miss Milin joined the Bleecker Street Opera's Composer's Forum in New York City singing the role of Falca in Jordan Farrar's new opera The Day Boy and the Night Girl. She has also worked on the role of Madame Pompous in Penhorwood's Too Many Sopranos. She is a graduate of the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and received additional training at the Lotte Lehmann Akademie, Lyric Opera Studio Weimar and from the Crittenden Opera studio in Boston and New York
