Bio

Joshua is a spiel tenor from County Cork, in the south of Ireland.

Joshua studied in the Dublin Institute of Technology Conservatory of Music and Drama with voice teachers Stephen Wallace and Sylvia O’Regan and répétiteur Mary Scarlett. During this time, he had
the pleasure of playing the part of the 1st Elder in a rare staging of Handel’s oratorio Susanna in the Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin.

Joshua made his professional operatic debut in 2015 for Lyric Opera in Dublin with the role of Parpignol in Puccini’s La Bohème. He also played the role of Pritschitsch in their production of Die
Lustige Witwe in English in the same year.

As an oratorio tenor soloist, Joshua has performed Handel’s Messiah as well as Stainer’s Crucifixion on various occasions. Joshua has also sung the tenor solos in much of the regular
cathedral mass repertoire by composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert and
Haydn.

Joshua recently made his international debut as Don Basilio and Don Curzio (Le nozze di Figaro) in Theater im Schlossgarten in Arnstadt, Germany where his performance was described in review as being “reminiscent of the Commedia dell’arte roles… who knew how to captivate in every little scene”.

This July sees Joshua’s Austrian debut with Opera Rund Um where he will sing the role of Pedrillo in Die Entführung aus dem Serail.
