"With her well-placed, clear voice and captivating interpretation, she touches her audience deeply." Swedish mezzo-soprano Josefine Andersson was a student at the Copenhagen Opera Academy between 2009 to 2012 where her teacher was Kirsten Buhl Möller. Prior to her admission there, she conducted preparatory studies at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory and at various music schools in her native Sweden. In addition, she has taken part in masterclasses with Mirella Freni, Diana Montague, Dorothy Irving, Martin Isepp, Mikael Eliasen, Hans Peter Blochwitz, Felicity Palmer, Helmut Deutsch a.o. Only in her first term at the Opera Academy, she was cast as Dryade in Royal Danish Opera’s production of Ariadne auf Naxos in 2009 and the year after she was engaged to sing Kunstgewerblerin in Lulu. Her next assignment with the Royal Danish Opera was Stéphano in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette in spring 2011. And in third year at the opera academy she sang Sesto in Julius Caesar by Handel in Folk Opera in Stockholm, which was Josefines debut in Stockholm, Sweden. In the past few years as a student at the Opera Academy she has been given the opportunity to work with prominent artists, such as conductors Freidemann Layer, Michael Boder, Marc Soustrot and Alexander Shelley and directors Robert Carsen, Stefan Herheim and Olivier Py. Josefine was selected to take part in the 14th Académie européenne de musique taking place in summer 2011 under the opera festival in Aix-en-Provence after that she sang her first Angelina in Rossini’s La Cenerentola with Øresundsoperan on tour in Sweden and Denmark. Josefine Andersson is an accomplished performer of lieder and songs and is steadily building an impressive concert repertoire. And in the summer of 2012 Josefine was assigned the Jenny Lind scholarship. It consists of a cash prize of 4700 € and a concert tour in the U.S., Canada, Denmark and Sweden. Josefine Andersson has been awarded numerous awards and scholarships from a.o. the Swedish Royal Academy of Music and the The Royal Danish Conservatory of Music. The 29th of October 2011 Josefine won the 3th price in Sibelius singing competition in Järvenpää in Finland. She also got a special price for best interpretation of a mordern song. In the final she sang Sibelius and Strauss songs with Helsinki symphony orchestra, conducted by John Storgårds.
