Bio

Johanna Krödel is a versatile singer performing regularly on opera stages as well as in concert, in oratorio as well as in chamber music context. She also participates in projects of professional ensemble Chorwerk Ruhr and holds a position for voice teaching at Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media.
Her opera experience includes productions at Mannheim National Theater, Frankfurt Opera, Ruhrtriennale and Schloss Rheinsberg, many of them contemporary. In March 2016 she was part of the cast of Louis Andriessen’s “De Materie” (1988) in New York. The production received widespread acclaim when it opened the annual arts festival Ruhrtriennale in 2014 (director: Heiner Goebbels; conductor: Peter Rundel). She participated in the first full staging of Carl Orff’s “Prometheus” (conducted by Peter Rundel), which was awarded the Carl Orff Prize 2013.

In concert repertoire, Johanna especially enjoys performing the lower alto parts by Bach and Handel. She sang the title role in Handel’s “Solomon” accompanied by Göttingen Baroque Orchestra and
debuted with Handel’s “Messiah” in Eastbourne, England, alongside Evelyn Tubb (soprano) and conducted by Michael Fields.
