Bio

According to critics Joel Herold is praised for his &ldquohandsome, light baritone and polished stage presence” (Opera News) as well as “easy, pinging high notes” (NY Observer). Mr. Herold was a national semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and participated in The Audition documentary that highlighted the competition. A versatile artist, who feels equally at home singing the likes of Rodgers and Hammerstein (Corpus Christi Symphony) and opera, Mr. Herold has been part of a number of new performance presentations. Recently, he played the role of Schaunard in Loft Opera’s highly acclaimed La Boheme. Also, he has been part of an opera tour for the past two years that received buzz for it’s innovative approach to reaching new audience called, #30daysofopera, with Opera Memphis. The tour consisted of 30 consecutive days of opera performed in and around Memphis, TN. He was held a number of Young Artist positions at Fort Worth Opera, Saratoga Opera, and Connecticut Opera. Mr. Herold has sung additionally with the Santa Fe Concert Association, Opera Cleveland, Knoxville Opera, and Opera Theater of Pittsburgh. Some of the roles that he has played include Dandini in Cinderella, Belcore in The Elixir of Love, Papageno in The Magic Flute, Pish-Tush in The Mikado, Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro, Bion/First Geezer in Lysistrata and Frank in Die Fledermaus.
