«"Great performance created by Joanna Parisi in the role of Leonora. The American singer of Italian descent amazes with an excellent vocal technique and captivates with her beauty. Parisi, sought-after by major opera houses of the world, this year has been credited by the prestigious New York radio station WQXR-FM, specializing in classical music, the "New Generation of Great Opera Singers." Leonora seduced with her beauty and vocalism. No wonder the two male protagonists of Verdi's opera, Manrico and Di Luna, lost their head." December 2016» December 2016 (2017)
«FLORIA TOSCA "Joanna Parisi possède les atouts d'une Tosca convaincante: son soprano riche développe des inflexions variées, les aigus sont puissante et cristallins, les moments intimes sont taintés d'un sens dramatique profond. Elle sait moduler sa voix au gré des émotions de son personnage. Son jeu d'actrice n'est pas en reste: tantôt séduissante, langoureuse, passionée, elle passe pour toutes les émotions de la colère et du désespoir." "Joanna Parisi has all the advantages of a convincing Tosca: her rich soprano develops various inflections, powerful treble and crystalline tones, the intimate moments have deep dramatic sense. She knows how to modulate her voice at the mercy of her emotions. Her acting is not to be outdone. She is seductive, dreamy, passionate- and her voice goes through all the emotions of anger and despair." L'Express/L'Impartial, Switzerland 03.03.2014»

Mit gekonntem Legato zeichnete sie weite schöne Kantilenen, wobei ihre aufblühenden Stimme grosse Leuchtkraft und Wärme entwickelte." ("Joanna Parisi offered a sure-voiced Elisabetta. With skillful legato she designed wide, beautiful cantilenas with her blooming voice that evolved with great luminosity and warmth.")»

Italian-American spinto soprano

Joanna Parisi

recognized internationally for her natural singing and acting ability in
the most challenging and iconic soprano roles on stage, cinema and
television. She has earned worldwide acclaim for her compelling
interpretations of Verdi, verismo and bel canto heroines.  She was
recently named one of "The Next Generation of Great Opera Singers" by WQXR Classical.

In 2017-2018, she makes her debut as Bellini's Norma at the Sarasota Opera, sings Tosca
at the historic opera house Teatro Solís in South America and later at
Permian Basin Opera in Texas, and at Opera Wrocławska, Poland in
concert, from La Gioconda, Un ballo in maschera, Tannhäuser and Adriana Lecouvreur.

Parisi sang the title role in 12 performances of Madama Butterfly
with Maestro Victor DeRenzi at Sarasota Opera in Spring 2017, and was
invited to sing one of her signature Verdi roles, Leonora in Il trovatore at Opera Wrocławska, the Cultural Capital of Europe of 2016 in Wroclaw (Breslau) Poland.

In New York, she sang Lucrezia Borgia "in a big, vibrant spinto with confident flexibility and a rich, earthy chest register" (NY Observer) "with beautiful dynamics, delicate pitch, and furious emotion" (Opera News). Parisi'sLucrezia is "truly a force of nature" (Opera Magazine)
"Over the top and out of control—except vocally, where Parisi's control
was impressive and gratifying.  She has the evenness of register, all
one voice from top to bottom that was much prized in the bel canto era
and seems rare of late". (    The New York Times also writes of her Lucrezia Borgia,
"the soprano Joanna Parisi gave a scintillating, frenzied
performance..the emotional focus she brought to her character’s vocal
hysterics was wholly convincing".  "A natural" and "A real
tour-de-force," according to the WQXR Classical Radio Excellence in
Opera Awards.

Parisi's performances in Bizet's Carmen at the Teatro Antico
di Taormina in Sicily are currently being shown worldwide and featured
at the Berlin International Film Festival. In April 2016, Parisi was
highly praised for her "magnificent" and "highly dramatic" performances
of Margherita in Boito's Mefistofele in Switzerland.

She sang Floria Tosca throughout four theaters in Switzerland:
Neuchâtel, Fribourg, Vevey and Porrentruy: "Joanna Parisi has all the
advantages of a convincing Tosca: her rich soprano develops various
inflections, powerful treble and crystalline tones, the intimate moments
have deep dramatic sense. She knows how to modulate her voice at the
mercy of her emotions. Her acting is not to be outdone.  She is
seductive, dreamy, passionate- and her voice goes through all the
emotions of anger and despair." (L'impartial)

Joanna Parisi sang Leonora in Il trovatore at the Palacio
de Bellas Artes in Mexico City in both the 2014 and 2013 seasons. "Best
of the night, without a doubt, was the soprano Joanna Parisi as Leonora.
In the fourth act, she showed her skills and vocal endurance. In the
wonderful aria "D'amor sull'ali rosée" she addressed with perfect pitch
and beautiful voice.  In the Miserere scene and later with the Count,
she was impeccable, dramatically and vocally, refined, passionate, in
great voice, simply splendid. These two scenes are worth the entire
opera. She received a deserved standing ovation."

She also sang Micaëla in Carmen at Teatro Amazonas in Brazil during the 2014 World Cup.  She sang Elisabetta di Valois in Don Carlo
to great success in Neuchâtel and Fribourg, Switzerland. "Joanna Parisi
offered a sure-voiced Elisabetta. With skillful legato she designed
wide, beautiful cantilenas with a blooming voice that evolved with great
luminosity and warmth." (Der Neue Merker) She sang Donna Anna in Don Giovanni
at Teatro Solis with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Montevideo: "Parisi
demonstrated a powerful voice with command of the entire register." (El Pais) She
sang in concert in Beijing, China at the National Center of the
Performing Arts conducted by Plácido Domingo for Operalia.  She has recorded Verdi's Compasizioni da Camera in Vienna, Austria released by Capriccio Records with Ramon Vargas and Charles Spencer.  She sang Verdi's I due Foscari (Lucrezia) and Tosca with the Budapest Radio Symphony Orchestra.  She was the soprano soloist of the Verdi Requiem with the Orchestre Symphonique du Jura, Switzerland as well as the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City in 2013.

Joanna made her professional opera debut as the title role of Puccini's Tosca
in Central Park, New York City for an estimated audience of 10,000
under the baton of Vincent La Selva. She has since performed Abigaille
in Verdi's Nabucco in Union Square-Washington Irving Auditorium, and the title role of Aida
in Central Park with the Orchestra of New York Grand Opera.  She also
sang Beethoven's 9th Symphony at Carnegie Hall in the Stern Auditorium, Andrea Chenier
(Maddalena) in concert in the Carnegie Hall towers, and Verdi and
verismo recitals in the Weill recital hall. She sang the Puccini
heroines Tosca and Mimi in La boheme at the Enrico
Fermi Italian Cultural Center in New York, and Madama Butterfly in concert for the
Italian American organization, Unico at the Bardavon Opera House.

She has received awards and recognition from prestigious
opera and musical organizations including Operalia, Metropolitan Opera
National Council, Opera Index.

Joanna Parisi was born in New York of Italian heritage and is a
citizen of both United States and Italy (L'Aquila, Abruzzo).  Joanna
graduated with honors from The Conservatory of Music at Purchase, State
University of New York.  She also holds degrees with high honors in

in the opera workshop of The Juilliard School and at the Renata Scotto

College (City University of NY).
