Bio



Born in London (1987) Jamie Man is a conductor and composer. Since receiving the Britten–Pears Conductors’ award in 2010 Jamie worked as an assistant to Oliver Knussen and later at De Nationale Opera (Amsterdam) and Silbersee Opera. Jamie's conducting highlights have included appearances at the Aldeburgh Festival in concert with pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard, La Monnaie (Brussels)/Holland Festival, Yellow Lounge (London) and Arcola Theatre (London). 

Jamie's first opera 'Play: Episodes in Subspace'  was commissioned by the Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon and premiered in 2016 staged by director Kristiina Helin and Shibari artist Pedro Cordas. As a young artist Jamie created work through VOX at the Royal Opera House (London), Jerwood Opera Writing Programme (Aldeburgh), L’Atelier Opéra en Création Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Asko|Schönberg Ensemble (Amsterdam), Eric Ericson Kammarkör (Stockholm), Xenon Ensemble (Berlin), LOD Muziektheater (Ghent), Shibaura House and RYoko Aoki (Tokyo). Jamie was a Sound and Music embedded composer with Mahogany Opera Group (2013-15). Future projects include a new work through TOTEM(s) residency at La Chartreuse/Festival d'Avignon, a new work for Dietrich Henschel and the United Berlin Ensemble with conductor Vladimir Jurowski and two new works for Deutsche Oper, Berlin as part of Neue Szenen (2019).
