The German-Swedish mezzo-soprano Ivonne Fuchs has within only a few years made a name for herself as an internationally acclaimed opera and concert singer. Ivonne received her education at Hochschule für Musik Detmold, the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and the University of Opera in Stockholm, where she finished her master's degree in early 2010. For several years, she has been a regular student of Christa Ludwig. Ivonne made her opera debut in the summer of 2009, at the Drottningholm Court Theatre in Stockholm, in the title role of Handel's Ariodante. Her international debut came in 2010 with Waltraute in Wagner's Die Walküre at Teatro alla Scala in Milan and Staatsoper in Berlin, under the baton of Daniel Barenboim. In the same season, 2010/11, she also sang Fricka and Grimgerde in Das Rheingold and Die Walküre at Wermland Opera in Sweden.During 2011/12, Ivonne could be seen as Suzuki in Puccini's Madame Butterfly at Folkoperan in Stockholm, and as Waltraute in Die Walküre during Berliner Festtage. She was also engaged as cover for Waltraute in Wagner's Götterdämmerung at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Since then she has appeared as Federica in Verdi's Luisa Miller at Malmö Opera and returned to Berlin and Milan as Waltraute in Die Walküre. Ivonne has sung Romeo in Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi in Detmold, Baba The Turk in scenes from Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress and Etten Frost in the original performance of Sven-David Sandström's opera Nätverket (The Network) at the University of Opera in Stockholm. Her broad repertoire also includes studied opera roles such as Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), The composer (Ariadne auf Naxos),  Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde), Kundry (Parsifal), Ortrud  (Lohengrin) and Judith (Bluebeard's Castle). During her education, Ivonne was awarded several scholarships and prizes, among others from Deutsche Wagner-Gesellschaft, The Royal Swedish Academy of Music and Drottningholm Court Theatre 2012 and 2015. In 2012 she was chosen for the prestigious Birgit Nilsson Scholarship.Recently she won the Grant Award of the Gerda Lissner International Wagner Competition 2016 in New York.  Her extensive concert schedule has brought Ivonne to Japan, USA and almost every important concert stage in Europe. She has sung Mozart's Requiemand Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in Tokyo, Bach's Magnificat in Tonhalle Zürich and Herkulessaal Munich under the lead of Philippe Herreweghe, Johannes-Passion in Concertgebouw Amsterdam with Frans Brüggen, Matthäus-Passion in Stuttgart with Helmuth Rilling, Sven-David Sandström's Ordet (The Word) in Berwaldhallen in Stockholm and in Copenhagen under the lead of Manfred Honeck, Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium with the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra and Peter Dijkstra, as well as Sven-David Sandström's Messiah in the Swedish cities of Gävle and Uppsala. In the two latter cities, she has also given guest performances as soloist in Brahm's Alt-Rhapsodie together with Gävle Symphony Orchestra and Swedish male choir Orphei Drängar. Ivonne's concert repertoire furthermore includes Mendelssohn's Elias, Verdi's Requiem and Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde, the last of which was recorded by Cappricio in cooperation with Deutschland Funk and published on CD in 2015. A recording of Johann Ludwig Bach's Trauermusik was published in 2011 by Harmonia Mundi France.  During the spring of 2014, Ivonne Fuchs could be heard in the world premiere of Sven-David Sandström's newly composed Matthäus-Passion at the Berliner Philharmonie under the baton of Stefan Parkman. In the autumn she sang the role of Amastre and the role of Xerxes in Handel's Xerxes with L´Ensemble Matheus under the baton of Jean-Christophe Spinosi at Stockholm's new opera stage Artipelag. The production reappeared at the Versailles Opera in Paris in June 2015.  Near future productions in 2016 include Bach's Matthäus-Passion at the Berliner Philharmonie, Amastre (Handel´s Serse) in concert at the Opera Liceu Barcelona and Tchaikovsky Concert Hall Moscow as well as her role debut with Marcellina (Mozarts Le Nozze di Figaro) at the Royal Opera House in Stockholm.  Ivonne Fuchs is a passionate “Lied” singer. Together with the pianist Anna Christensson she won first prize in the Swedish Chamber Music Society's competition “Ordet & Tonen” and has been performing at renowned chamber music festivals throughout Sweden since.
