Bio

Isabel
Seebacher grew up in Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia in the south of
Austria, where she started her comprehensive artistic education which included
Piano, Singing, Ballet and Drama. While still at school, she has appeared on
stage as a soloist for the Klagenfurt Theatre and has completed her
state-recognised theatrical examination in acting (Staatliche
Bühnenrefeprüfung, Schauspiel).
Studying in
Vienna at the University of Music under Helena Lazarska and Charles Spencer,
Isabel graduated with high distinction for which she received an honorary award
from the Austrian Government (Würdigungspreis der Österreichischen
Bundesregierung). She was immediately approached by KS Brigitte Fassbaender who
arranged her for the Tiroler Landestheater (Tyrolean State Theatre) in
Innsbruck, Austria.
Two successful
seasons followed at the Staatstheater Braunschweig, Germany and then onto the
Volksoper in Vienna, where she was singing as a
Mezzo-soprano the roles in “Hansel and Gretel” and “The Tales of
Hoffmann”. At the Neue Oper Wien, Isabel appeared as the lead in the world
premiere of Herwig Reiter’s “Campiello”. Guest performances followed in
St.Gallen, Freyburg and Caracas.
Thereafter,
Isabel moved into the soprano repertoire as her voice naturally and
effortlessly developed into the higher regions. Soprano roles such as the Countess
in “The Marriage of Figaro”, Donna Elvira in “Don Giovanni”, Elsa in
“Lohengrin” or the Countess Maria from the composer Emmerich Kàlmàn are some of
her favourites.
Isabel has won
many national and international competitions including: the Antonín Dvořák
competition; Ferruccio Tagliavini, Mikulas Schneider Trnavsky, Jugend
musiziert, Heinrich Strecker and the Leopold-Goess-Stiftung. Her wide-ranging
concert and stage commitments have led Isabel to guest performances at the
Salzburger Festspielen and in Aix-en-Provence, to performances in North and
South America as well as to work with internationally renowned conductors such
as Fabio Luisi, Leopold Hager and Gustavo Dudamel.
