Irina Marinaş travelled around the world for her musical education. Born in Romanian in 1985, the soprano started her studies in her hometown Râmnicu Vâlcea by taking piano lessons at the age of five. In 2002 she immigrated with her family to Montreal, Canada where she decided to study classical singing. Ms. Marinaş graduated from McGill University’s Schulich School of Music in the class of Stefano Algieri. She continued her education in Salzburg, Austria at the Mozarteum University, where she obtained a Master's Degree in the class of Horiana Brãnişteanu and Josef Wallnig. During her studies, she attended the masterclasses of Diana Soviero and Joan Dornemann at the CVAI program in Montreal and worked with Ivan Domzalski and Nina Uhari at the CNIPAL Academy in Marmande, France. Ms. Marinaş made her debut in 2009 at the Operafestival di Roma as Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, role which she interpreted again in 2011 at the Sommer Oper Bamberg Festival in Germany, under the guidance of Angelika Kirchschlager.Since 2012, Ms. Marinaş is a fest member of the Opera Ensemble in Koblenz, Germany, where she has been singing main roles such as Konstanze (The Abduction from the Seraglio), Anne Trulove (The Rake's Progress), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Gretel (Hänsel and Gretel), Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Adina (L'Elisir d’Amore), and Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro).Ms. Marinaş is twice the recipient of the Grant for Classical Musicians awarded by the Canadian Council for the Arts. In 2016 she was the awarded the Richard- Wagner- Verband Koblenz Fellowship. In 2017, Ms. Marinaş added Madeline Usher in Philip Glass's The Fall of the House of Usher) and Micaela in Bizet's Carmen to her repertoire.
