Bio

Born in Bilbao (Spain), she began her musical studies with Ana Begoña Hernández. After which she participated in various choral organizations such as, La Sociedad Coral de Bilbao, the Coro de Opera de Bilbao, A sei voci and I Madrigalisti Ambrosiani. She then began her activity as a soloist. She graduated with honors from the Conservatorio E.F. dall'Abaco in Verona in 2000. She made her professional soloist debut as Jenny of the Pirates from K. Weill's Beggars' Opera and later as Tangia from Le Cinesi of C.W. Gluck. She continued her studies in the Conrservatorio G. Verdi of Milan attending to the Corso Esperimentale di Musica Antica with Margareth Hayward and Marinella Pennichi and vocal technics with Anatoli Goussev. During this period she played La Zinagara in Nina et Lindoro by E. R. Duni in Duni’s Festival in Matera. Currently she continued her training with Sara Sforni Corti, Adalberto Tonini, Natalia Biffis, Luca Gorla, Franco Sioli and Alejandro Zabala. She has been engaged in Italy in the Requiem and Coronation Mass of W.A. Mozart, the St. John’s and St. Matthew’s Passions by Bach, the Stabat Mater of G.B. Pergolesi, Messiah by Handel, the Ninth Simphony of Beethoven, the Amor Brujo of Falla in Verona and the Oratoire de Noel by Saint-Saens . Highly praised as Mrs Baggots from Britten's Little Sweeper in Verona, Clarina from Rossini's La Cambiale di Matrimonio and as Azucena from Il trovatore in the Festival Lirico Toscano. In the Concorso Lirico Mattia Battistini she was awarded the performances of the role Ulrika in Un Ballo in maschera. She later appeared in the role of Suzuki in Madama Butterfly in Rieti in Turin. In Rome she has performed Carmen in the Teatro Italia, Santuzza in Bordighera and Amneris in Milan. In Spain she has had success as Amneris in Aida, la Aurora La Beltrana in Doña Francisquita, conducted by Jorge Rubio, in the Festival de Santander. Also appearing frequently in concert repetoire she has sung the Coronation Mass, Requiem by W. A. Mozart and Gloria by Vivaldi in the Cathedral of Seville and in Ronda. She later appeared in France as Fenena in Nabucco, C minor Mass by Mozart as well as a series of recitals of ancient music in Corse. In Mexico has sung several times the Stabat Mater of G.B. Pergolesi. She has also appeared as Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana. In recent seasons she sang the Pauken Messe by Haydn in Los Jerónimos in Madrid and in San Pedro in Teruel, Beltrana in the Festival de Zarzuela de Santa Cruz de Tenerife again with Jorge Rubio, La Cantaora from La verbena de la Paloma in a tour of Spain, St. Mathew’s Passion in Seville and Mozart’s Requiem in Murzia. She has participated in the international debut of Pedro I El Cruel by the Spanish composer Igor Escudero. She performed the role of Socorro (El Barquillero), Zita (Gianni Schicchi), Dina (Trouble in Tahiti), Dorabella (Così fan tutte) and the Bergère, the Herdsman, the White Cat and the Squirrel from L’Enfant et les sortilèges. In Madrid, Gijón and Cuenca, she sang the role of Ascensión (La del Manojo de Rosas) and Mari-Pepa (La Revoltosa). Also adept in 20th century repetoire she performed The Spring Symphony of Benjamin Britten in the Teatro Arriaga of Bilbao for the 125th Anniversary of the Coral de Bilbao. Last season among her appearences she' sang Azucena in Il Trovatore, Carmen, Clavelera from El Fantasma de la tercia by Julián Santos and Mari Pepa in several spanish cities. Last year she made her debut as Carmen in the Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelon. Future engagements include La Canción del Olvido, Maddalen in Rigoletto, Flora in Traviata and Ascensión in La del Manojo de Rosas, Suzuki in Almeria and in Madrid, Handel's Messiah and St. Matthew's Passion in Murcia and several recitals in Italy and Spain with different programs ranging from ancient to contemporary music.
