Holden Madagame is an American tenor and University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance alumni. He studied with bass-baritone Stephen West as a mezzo soprano, and currently lives in Berlin, Germany.
Holden is a passionate trans* activist forging the way for trans-identified artists to work openly in opera and classical music. He hopes to reach out to both audiences and professionals to discuss gender and sexuality whenever possible.

Since beginning testosterone in autumn 2015, he has sung extensively, including the role of Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) and the character tenor roles in ‘Le Contes d’Hoffmann’ for Opera on Tap Berlin’s first fully staged production. He recently produced ‘Hänsel und Gretel’ for Alltagsoper, his newly established independent opera company focused on bringing together emerging artists in high quality chamber productions. Having performed Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro) and Parpignol (La Boheme) with The Berlin Opera Group, he will soon sing Scaramuccio (Ariadne auf Naxos) in their newest production.
