Bio

Born in Stockholm, Gustav started his musical education in the boys choir of S:t Jacobs. With a repertoire that contained music from the 11th century all the way to Britten and contemporary music, Gustav grew at an early age fond of all kinds of musical expressions. Playing the flute in a local youth orchestra, being part of the schools drama group and starting a rockband in his teens (even releasing a record and touring in Germany) made his artistic and creative base even broader. When graduating from school Gustav combined all these interests and experiences and found his way into clasical music and opera. In 2015, Gustav graduated from the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Opera. There he studied with Hovs&aringngare MariAnne Häggander and with the great swedish tenor Sten Sjöstedt. During his studies he worked with conductors as Tobias Ringborg, Christian Badea, Kjell Ingebretsen, Marit Strindlund, Andreas Hansson, Finn Rosengren and with directors as Mira Bartov, Staffan Aspegren, Mattias Ermedahl and Sven-Åke Gustavsson. During his first year at the Bachelor program he was chosen to sing the part of Johan Messenius in the recording of Jacopo Foronis opera Cristina, Regina di Svezia. As the youngest member of the cast he participated in the recording together with Tobias Ringborg conducting the orchestra of Göteborgsoperan and some of Swedens most prominent singers such as baritone Fredrik Zetterström, tenor Daniel Johansson and soprano Liine Carlsson. The recording was released by Sterling records with many good reviews. In the second year of his education, Gustav participated in Le Nozze di Figaro at Folkoperan, Stockholm. The production, which was a guest appearance, was a great success with good reviews and with sold out houses. In his third and final year in Gothenburg, Gustav sang the leading role, Fadinard, in Nino Rotas Il Capello di Paglia di Firenze in a production directed by Staffan Aspegren, conducted by Kjell Ingebretsen and together with SNOA (Swedish National Orchestra Academy). The production attracted attention by SR (Swedish national radio). Gustav has, as a soloist, always worked with a broad repertoire which spans from the baroque era to contemporary music, embracing all kinds of musical expressions and
