Biography of Gohar Azizyan

I, Gohar Azizyan, was born on December 9
th

of 1975 In Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia,
where I have lived and worked till now. I practiced poetry and music from my
early childhood. I also loved the theater since my childhood and I always
performed a role or directed one in a big or small performances.

In 1984 I entered No. 2 Sayat Nova Musical
school of Yerevan, that I graduated from a piano class with honor.

In 1991 I entered and in 1996 graduated
from Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, the faculty of piano with
qualifications of the chamber ensemble artist, accompanist and teacher.

In 1994 I entered the vocal department of
the same conservatory. From 1994 to 1996 I studied in the preparatory class.
From 1996 to 2000 I studied in the main class. From 2004 to 2006 I studied and
finished the advanced class.

From 2001 to 2006 I worked at the Yerevan
State Chamber Music Theater. I sang in the renowned musicals “Cats” by Andrew
Lloyd Webber and “Notre-Dame de Paris” by Riccardo Cocciante and other
performances of that theater.

Since 2006 I work at the Alexander
Spendiaryan National Academic State Theatre of Opera And Ballet (Yerevan,
Armenia) and since 2009 I have been granted a status of first class soloist –
mezzo soprano becoming a main soloist of the theater. I perform in the many
operas of this theater; “Arshak II” by A. Chookhajyan, “Almast” by Alexander
Spendiaryan, “Don Juan” by Mozart – Elvira, “Norma” by Bellini – Adalgisa,
“Carmen” by Bizet – Carmen.

I have also performed in the following
première performances:

I have worked with well known director and
conductor Zaven Vardanyan, Artistic Director and Conductor of Soloists State
Ensemble, performing at Komitas Chamber Music House (Yerevan, Armenia)
