Bio

Born in Bogota, Fernando Cuellar obtains a Diploma of Musical Pedagogy in singing at the Pedagogical University of Colombia. In 2003 he is part of the young artists troop of the Opera of Colombia, in 2007 he was selected to sing the Isola disabitata by Haydn and won the award of &quotYoung Performers" in 2008. From 2006 to 2009 he evolved as a teacher in several Universities in Bogota, while continuing he’s career as a soloist and appears among the award-winners of the contest “Opera in the Park”. In 2010 Fernando Cuellar went to Europe where he continued his studies at the High Music School of Geneva and received his Master of Arts and Music Performance in 2012 under the tutelage of Jean Roth. Currently he studies at the Opera Studio of Art Bern High School in the class of Master specialization in musical performance for the Opera, under the aegis of Matthias Behrends and Franco Trinca, while taking singing lessons Gilles Cachemaille. His concert repertoire ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary music, including among other works, the Requiem and Coronation Mass by Mozart, Puccini's Messa di Gloria, Requiem by Camille Saint Saëns and Die Sieben Worte am Kreuz Jesus by Cesar Franck and opera parts like Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Il Podestá in La Finta Giardinera by Mozart, Gernando in Haydn's L'isola disabitata and Orpheus in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld. As a solist, he has performed with orchestra including the Geneva Conservatory of Music, the orchestra of the Conservatoire de Paris, the Théâtre du Passage in Neuchâtel and Theatre Colombier. He worked under the direction of conductors such as Celso Antunes, Will Cruthfield, Marco Zambelli, Facundo Agudín, Yves Senn and Gabriel Garrido.
