Bio


Felicia Gyllenstig Serrao is a Swedish/Portuguese lyric mezzo-soprano, who grew up training music, theatre and dancing. Soon she realized her true passion was in opera.

At the Opera Academy, Royal Opera House in Copenhagen, Felicia performed in professional productions as Kunstgeweblerin in Herheims Lulu by Alban Berg, conducted by Michael Bodor, Orlovsky (in russian) in Strauss Die Fledermaus at Takkeloftet, ROH Copenhagen with Martin Nagashima Toft conducting. During her studies she performed the titel role Cenerentola, Hermia, A Midsummer Night´s Dream, both directed by Robert Chevara. Cherubino, Le Nozze Di Figaro, directed by William Relton. Her graduation performance was Concepcion, L’Heure Espagnole, directed by Harry Fehr. Her final year she was hand-picked my Kasper Holten into the main cast as Pernille in Nielsens Maskarade, and made her debut in a bigger role on the main stage of the ROH in Copenhagen.

After graduating, Felicia toured with Maskarade as a regular member of the cast with the ROH of Denmark. On tour she performed the lead in the modern piece Sista sucken with Länsteatern, Tisbe in Cenerentola with Skånska Operan and sang the role of Feodor, Boris Godunov at Galaksen Theater, Copenhagen.
Concert work includes Rosina, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Dvorak Mass in D Major, St John’s Passion, Mozarts Requiem in Lunds Domkyrka and singing Cherubinos aria at the Danish ROH, Grand Season Opening concert.
Felicia is selected as a Britten-Pears Young Artist 2017 at The Aldeburgh Festival. She represented the Birgit Nilsson Stiftelse at The Jussi Björling Festival in Stockholm, Sweden. Later this year she will also make her Finland debut as Cherubino in a new ’Figaro production at the Alandica Concert Hall.


Felicia is the recipient of numerous scholarships, and awards, such as Fredrika Bremer Aurora Lillieros stipendium, Iris-stipendiet for progressive women, Erik Levins Stiftelse, Helge Ax:son Johnsson Stiftelse, Stiftelsen Fru Mary von Sydow, DKDM Danish conservatory scholarships, Anna Whitlocks Minnesfond, Karen og Arthur Feldthusens scholarship to name a few.
