Bio

Federica Di Trapani was born in 1988 in Palermo, Italy. She graduated at the "Vincenzo Bellini” Conservatory of Palermo with honours. In 2009 she won the First Prize at the International Competition for Opera Singers “Voci dal Mediterraneo”, received a Special Prize from the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra performing at the Politeama Theatre in Palermo and sang the role of Barbarina in “The Marriage of Figaro” by Mozart. Federica joined the Opera Studio of the Carlo Felice Theatre in Genova Italy where she sang the same role in March 2014 under Maestro Johannes Wildner, directed by Marco Spada. That same year she won the audition for the Centre Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo at the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia where during her first season, she debuted in the role of Vagaus in the Oratorio “Juditha Triumphans” by Vivaldi and the role of Procri in Domenico Scarlatti’s “Narciso”, both conducted by Federico Maria Sardelli and directed by Davide Livermore. In August 2015 Di Trapani sang the role of Corinna in Rossini’s “Viaggio a Reims” at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. Federica’s debut in the Principal Hall of the Valencia Opera House Palau de Les Arts came in October 2015 in the role of Musetta in Puccini’s “La Bohème” under Maestro Manuel Coves and stage direction by Davide Livermore. Her affinity for baroque was noticed by one of the most acclaimed interpreters of baroque music Fabio Biondi, under whom she sang the role of Flavia in Handel’s “Silla” directed by Alessandra Premoli. She participated in Masterclasses with Plácido Domingo, Alberto Zedda, Juan Diego Florez, Luciana Serra, Luigi Roni, Manuela Custer and Roger Vignoles. In the season 2016/2017 she will be part of the Rieti Festival singing “Stabat Mater” of Luigi Boccherini, conducted by Maestro Fabio Biondi and the orchestra “Europa Galante”,and debut the role or Euridice in "Orfeo" of Monteverdi at the Opera of Lausanne under maestro Ottavio Dantone and the stage direction of Robert Carsen. She will debut in Innsbruck Festival of Early music 2017 in the opera “Octavia” of Reinhard Keiser in the role of Ormoena
