Bio


Federica Carnevale studied at the Conservatory “A. Casella” in L'
Aquila, graduating with honors under the guidance of M° Mario
Machi and M° Cesare Scarton.
After which, she studied at the Opera Studio at Accademia Santa
Cecilia with Renata Scotto, and she studied german lieder with Ulf
Bastlein and Stacey Bartsch from the University for Music
Darstellende Kunst in Graz, and french melody with Brigitte Balley
and Jeff Cohen at the Conservatory of Strasbourg.                      
Ms. Carnevale is the winner of several important international
vocal competitions, most notably Toti dal Monte, A. Belli in
Spoleto, Mattia Battistini Prize.
In 2010 she won first prize in the International Competition for
Sacred Music in Rome.
After winning the A.Belli Competition she took part in the Teatro
Lirico Sperimentale in Spoleto and sang the roles of Rosina in
Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” and Angelina in Rossini’s “La
Cenerentola” , on 2007 and 2008, on tour throughout Italy, Japan,                       
Qatar, Romania, St. Petersbourg. She repeated the role of Angelina
as her debut role with the Piccolo Teatro Regio in Torino in 2008 and 2009. In 2010 she sang the
role of Norina in “Don Pasquale”, in a production of the Pauline Viardot version, realized by the
Teatro Olimpico of Vicenza under the direction of Giovanni Battista Rigon and staged by
Francesco Bellotto. In the same year he was chosen by Riccardo Muti for the Jommelli's Opera                      
“Betulia Liberata”, as a cover for the role of Juditha.

On January 2011 she participated in two first productions in modern times: of the opera
“L'inimico delle donne” of Galuppi at the l’Opera Royal de Wallonie of Liège conducted by
maestro Rinaldo Alessandrini, and of the oratorio “A Maria Dolorata” of Leonardo Vinci in Rome.
Thanks to winning the Toti del Monte Competition, between 2009 and 2012 she sang the role of
Rosina in Haydn’s “La vera costanza” under the direction of Maestro Jesus Lopez Cobos at the
Teatro Real in Madrid, Teatro Comunale of Treviso, National Theatre of Sofia, Teatro Valli of Reggio
Emilia, Opéra de Saint Etienne, Opéra Royal de Wallonie (Liège), Opéra de Rouen-Haute
Normandie.
In 2013 she participated with great success and critical acclaim, the first performance in modern
times of “L'ambizione delusa” by L. Leo, in XIXXX Festival of Valle d'Itria, in Martinafranca. He
also played with great success the role of Isabella in “L'Italiana in Algeri” di G. Rossini in Teatro
Marrucino, Chieti. Between 2014/2016 she was Arminda in Mozart's “La finta giardiniera”, in Opèra de Rouen-
Haute Normandie, under the baton of A. Spering, and was a guest of the Festival of Valle d' Itria,
with the first modern performance of “Armida” by T. Traetta, under the direction of Diego Fasolis.
She was also Alcina in the first modern performance of “Le Fate” by G.A. Ristori, in Ekhoff
Festival in Gotha (Germany), Suzuki in G. Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” in Teatro Marrucino,
Chieti, and Giovanna in Verdi’s “Rigoletto” in Oper Schenkenberg (Switzerland), with the stage
direction of Giancarlo Del Monaco. In 2017 she was Zita in Giacomo Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi”
in Teatro Verdi of Trieste, Carmen in “Carmen” of George Bizet in Siracusa at Mythos Opera
Festival, and Amneris in Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida in Cirella Opera Festival. In 2018 she was
Marcellina in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro”, in Piccolo Opera Festival FVG.                      

Her repertoire varies from the baroque to the 20th century, including operatic, oratorio, symphonic
and recital repertoire, and she was guest as soloist of important concert halls: Auditorium Parco
della Musica- Santa Cecilia in Rome, Hermitage Theatre in Saint Petersburg, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan,                                       
Teatro Filarmonico (Verona), Auditorium du Conservatoire de Strasbourg, Enescu Theatre
(Bucarest).

Federica Carnevale is graduated in Modern Literature and Dramaturgy at the University of
