«The role of Manon demands an ever-growing personality, vocally and dramatically. As her character develops, so too does the depth of lead Conrad; her voice commands the entire stage right down to her last mortal breath. Manon centres this opera; she is reckless, careless, and greedy yet always so delicate, her sad notes of sorrow floating through the auditorium, seeming to linger before gently falling to the stage. »»

«« THE STAR OF THE EVENING. an admirable Donna Anna, with breadth, nobility, tenderness, fury . . . they are all there, and she fills the role out perfectly. » « a highly accomplished and dazzling Donna Anna ». « with incredible audacity on stage , she combines breathing technique and traditional legato with portraits of very modern women who are genuinely moving ».»

«Quant à la soprano Fabienne Conrad dans cette Traviata, c’est une découverte. Son assurance, sa technique vocale solide, son élégance, sa séduction, son timbre agréable, son intelligence du texte … annoncent une interprète prometteuse pour les grandes héroïnes d’opéra. »»

Bio

After her studies at the Political Studies Institute in Paris and a First Prize in Musical Studies and Piano, Fabienne Conrad turned into singing. The Winner of the Female Young Performers Competition in Madrid is then invited to make her debut on stage at the Teatro Real de Madrid in Poulenc's Dialogue des Carmélites under Jesus Lopez Cobos. Particularly appreciated for her expressiveness, she is quickly engaged for first parts like LEÏLA (Les pêcheurs de Perles), MICAËLA (Carmen), CONTESSA (le Nozze di Figaro), JULIETTE (Roméo et Juliette)… in Spain and Belgium.

The French audience discovered her in 2012 when she made a remarkable debut as VIOLETTA in La Traviata at the Opéra de Rouen. This role will become her "signature role" in the next years, after more than 30 very remarked performances.

She received great acclaims in Russia on a recital tour with orchestra, then performed VERDI'S REQUIEM several times in Paris and all over France with several conductors. Her "Libera me" is called "irresisitible" by the french press. She makes her debut also in MIMI (La Bohème), MARGUERITE (Faust), and DONNA ANNA (Don Giovanni).

Thanks to her sense of performing, her musicality, her long voice and her strong technique, Fabienne Conrad is engaged for real demanding parts. She starts her 2014-15 season with the 4 SOPRANO PARTS of OLYMPIA/ANTONIA/GIULIETTA/STELLA,  in the Tales of Hoffmann at the Rouen Opera, which opens up the doors of the german houses to her (see Future projets).

She also performs the title-part of Gounod's MIREILLE and Puccini's MADAMA BUTTERFLY, as well as the revival of VIOLETTA and MIMI

In 2015-16 she is invited to perform the title-part of MANON (by Massenet) at the Lithuanian National Opera in Vilnius and is acclaimed by the press for her ability to sing high pianissimis as well as full lyric or dramatic moments.

Her capacity to be a real actress on stage drove the stage director PE Fourny to give her the role of ELIZA DOOLITTLE in My fair Lady (Metz opera, Massy opera, Reims opera...) and makes above all a remarkable debut in the title role of LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR.

In the future seasons, she will appear in the Leipzig Opera, being the PRINCESS MARIE DE GONZAGUE, leading soprano role in the opera Cinq Mars by Gounod, as well as VIOLETTA in Traviata, Massenet's MANON again, the 4 SOPRANO ROLES in the Tales of Hoffmann in Saint-Etienne opera, MIMI in Massy Opera, VERDI'S REQUIEM with the Orchestra of the President of french Republic, NORMA etc...

Invited by Alain Duault / Radio Classique, she will sing concerts in 2018 with french great mezzo-soprano Beatrice Uria-Monzon.

In Belgium she's selected to sing at the commemoration ceremonies of the 1914-18 World War, in front of international heads of states and she performs gala concerts with French La Garde Républicaine (Orchestra of
the Republic President) as well as several tours in Russia. She sang then with many Philharmonic Orchestras there and with the Ensemble of Theodor Currentzis : Musicaeterna.

Interested in news forms of lyric art diffusion, she realized in 2010 an opera video clip called « Piangero » on Haendel’s famous aria (Parfum de films production). She also has a very large oratorio repertoire (see Repertoire page).

She speaks english, german, italian, spanish, french of course and some words of russian.

She sang with conductors such as Myung Wyung Chung, Jesus Lopez Cobos, Luciano Acocella, Alexandr Skulskyi, Jonas Alber, Cyril Diederich, Ryusuke Numajiri, François Boulanger...   and worked with directors such as Robert Carsen, Vincent Boussard, PE Fourny, F Roels, Florian Lutz...
