Bio

After studying piano and theatre, it is in the Opera that the french soprano,&nbspEmilie Bernou, found her artistic development. She followed private lessons and master classes, and when she graduated in law with a specialization in artistic property, she decided to devote herself fully to her passion for music. In 2006 she studied at the Marseille Regional Conservatoire and obtained four years later the first prize in Opera singing. She then joined the Opera Studio in Avignon, and worked with internationally renowned singers such as Ignacio Encinas, Mariella Devia, Luca Canonici and Stefania Bonfadelli. In recitals she performed among others: Elvira (I Puritani, Bellini), Juliette (Romeo et Juliette, Gounod), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare, Handel), Marie (La Fille du Regiment, Donizetti), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor, Donizetti), Giulietta (I Capuleti ei Montecchi, Bellini), Konstanze (Die Entfhürung aus dem Serail, Mozart), Ilia (Idomeneo, Mozart), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte, Mozart), Anne Trulove (The Rake's Progress Stravinsky), The Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte, Mozart), Amina (La Sonnambula, Bellini) , Dircé (Médée, Cherubini), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte, Mozart) Donna Anna (Don Giovanni, Mozart)…. She particulary likes Oratorio and sang recently the Soprano 1 of Mozart’s Great Mass in C with the Marseille Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Carlos Gomez Orellana. She sang also several sacred pieces during several concerts in France and especially for the Festival of Sacred Music in Marseille (i.e. Mendelssohn’s Elias and Psalm 45; Haydn ‘s Die Schöpfung and Die Jahreszeiten, Handel’s The Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, Fauré's Requiem, Bach’s Magnificat).  In 2010 she performed Il Paggio in Verdi's Rigoletto , for several French theaters  In 2011, she sang Adina in a production of Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore in Verona, under the artistic direction of Stefania Bonfadelli .  In 2012 she was selected for the first session of the Accademia del Belcanto "Rodolfo Celletti" of Paolo Grassi Foundation in Martina Franca in collaboration with the Festival Itria Valley.  Later in the year she was the Second Lady in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas under the direction of Jan Heiting. And in June she joined the Mediterranean Opera Troupe for which she played Eurydice in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld and Guadalena in Offenbach’s La Perichole, among others.  Otherwise, she was awarded the third Prize of the National Opera Competition of Béziers. This year she sang the soprano solo in Britten’s The Company of Heaven for the Festival La Roque d’Antheron, and Haendel’s The Messiah under the direction of Jan Heiting. She was Barbarina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, for several French theatres under the direction of Nicola Giusti, with whom she will works for the Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte in November 2014 for several French theatres, as Papagena. Otherwise she was awarded the third Prize of the National Opera Competition of Béziers.     She was Barbarina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (2013) for severals French theatres under the direction of Nicola Giusti, and Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (2014).    In 2015 she had the pleasure to interpret, among others, Mozart’s Requiem, Eisen and Fauré’s Requiem, Haendel’s Messiah.  September 2015 she was awarded the Jury’s Special Prize of the International Competition in Nîmes.    In may 2016 she will sing for a recital at the Foyer of the Opera of Marseille, and among others Rebecca (Cesar Franck), in august Le Roi David (Honegger) at La Roque d’Antheron, for the Festival Durance-Luberon.
