British Bass Baritone Edward Grint is a recent graduate of the International Opera School at The Royal College of Music (RCM) and a former choral scholar of King's College, Cambridge. Edward was awarded the top prize at the 24e Concours Lyrique in Clermont Ferrand in 2015, Second Prize at the 3rd International Singing Competition Pietro Antonio Cesti in Innsbruck and was a finalist in the 2014 London Handel Competition. He currently studies with Peter Savidge and is generously supported by the TF Willetts Foundation.   Recent roles include Eddy Greek (Tongyeong Festival, South Korea), Achilla Giulio Cesare, (Concertgebouw, Amsterdam), Teobaldo Faramondo (Göttingen International Handel Festival), Marchese La Traviata (Iford Arts), Arcas Iphigenie en Aulide (Theatre an der Wien), Brother The House Taken Over by Vasco Mendonça (Aix en Provence, Strasbourg and Antwerp), Adonis Venus and Adonis, Aeneas Dido and Aeneas (Innsbruck Festival), and Father Akita Neige by Catherine Kontz (Grand Theatre Luxembourg). At the Royal College of Music, Edward performed Count Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro, Isacio Riccardo Primo (London Handel Festival), Splendiano Djamileh, Mr Delancey Aqualung (World Premiere), Garibaldo Rodelinda (LHF), John Styx Orpheus in the Underworld, Tirenio Il Pastor Fido (LHF), 2ndPriest/Armed man Die Zauberflöte, Micha The Bartered Bride,as well as scenes from Sid Albert Herring, Olivier Capriccio, Dr Falke Die Fledermaus, Malatesta Don Pasquale and Don Giovanni. Other roles performed include Colonel Patience (Musée D'Orsay, Paris), Hobson Peter Grimes (CUOS), Mother Die Sieben Todsunden (Cuenca Festival), Thoas Iphigenie en Tauride (Euphonia), Zaretsky Eugene Onegin (Ryedale Festival) and Guglielmo Cosi fan tutte for the Rye Festival.   Already in great demand as a soloist, Edward has worked with many leading ensembles. Highlights include performing a program of Bach and Kuhnau Cantatas with The King's Consort in London's Wigmore Hall, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis for the Three Choirs Festival in Hereford Cathedral, Bach's St. Matthew Passion for the London Handel Festival and the The King's Consort, Bach's Magnificat with the OAE (Valletta Baroque Festival, Malta), Britten's War Requiem (Huddersfield Town Hall), Bach's Coffee Cantata with Laurence Cummings and the Adderbury Ensemble (Holywell Music Rooms, Oxford), Handel Israel in Egypt (King's College Cambridge), Brahms' Requiem (Cadogan Hall), Verdi Requiem (West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge), Elgar's Dream of Gerontius in Ely Cathedral and London's Cadogan Hall, Bach's St. John Passion (St. Paul's Cathedral with the London Mozart Players) Handel's Messiah (City of London Sinfonia), Vaughan Williams Sea Symphony (National Festival Orchestra), and the world premiere of A Cool Web - A Robert Graves Oratorio by Jools Scott in Bath Abbey.   An equally passionate recitalist, Edward has performed Brahms Vier Ernste Gesänge, Dvorak Biblical Songs, Finzi's Earth and Air and Rain and Let us Garlands Bring, Vaughan Williams Songs of Travel, Schumann Liederkreis op.24 and Ravel Don Quichotte cycles. Edward has also recorded the baritone solo in Faure Requiem (BBC Concert Orchestra) for a BBC Radio 2 broadcast, and High Priest, Judas and Pilate in St Mark's Passion by Charles Wood. Edward has recently recorded the role of The Poet in Edward Hughes' new opera When the Flame Dies and the role of Gavin Waylock in Joe St. Johanser's Clarges.   This season plans include performances of Polyphemus in Handel's Acis and Galatea in Avignon, Clermont Ferrand, Rennes and Chaise Dieu, Gelone in Cesti's Orontea at London's Wigmore Hall with La Nuova Musica, concerts of Arvo Pärt’s Passio in London and Cambridge, concerts in Worcester, Norwich and Chichester Cathedrals, as well as recitals in Mexico of contemporary songs by the Portguese composer Vasco Mendonça.
