Dominik Steklasa studied Orchestral Conducting with Prof. Marko Letonja and Composition and Music Theory with Prof. Pavel Mihelčič at the Ljubljana Music Academy.

He has worked with the orchestras such as: Berlin Sinfonietta, Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Microsonus and members of RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, Ljubljana Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, Ljubljana Academy of Music Wind Orchestra. 

At the 2015 World Music Days he conducted Ensemble Microsonus in a programme that included his own composition 576 MP (thy). For his Master's Degree concert he conducted P. Hindemith's Mathis der Maler symphony with Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2016 he debuted at Slovene National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana as Conductor and Composer of his chamber opera Fallen (Padli) and in the opera season 2016/17 he was Assistant Conductor to Maestro Aleksandar Spasić on a new Slovenian contemporary chamber opera Julka in Janez composed by Jan Gorjanc.

He is admired for his analytic approach of studying scores. His conducting solutions and decisions are always original and he knows exactly what he wants to hear based on his structural analysis of the piece he is working on.

Currently, he is working on a repertoire and applying for different conducting competitions. All he needs now is a starting point, a moment of attention from anyone else than just his study room, a chance to inspire.
