Bio

Dutch-born soprano Debora Berghuijs started singing at the age of seven in the local childrens choir. When she was fourteen she started her first singing lessons under the guidance of Meta Bourgonjen. At the age of seventeen she was accepted into the Young Talent Department at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. After finishing her A- levels she continued at the Royal Conservatoire where she started her degree and studied under Maria Acda-Maas. In September 2006 Debora moved to London to continue her studies under the tutelage of Ameral Gunson at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Currently Debora studies privately under Laura Sarti in London and Andreas Heinzmann in Munich. Furthermore, she follows coaching-sessions with Peter Nillson and Ana Sanchez Donate in the Netherlands. Debora specialised in German Lieder at the renowned Franz Schubert Institut in Baden bei Wien Austria. There she followed masterclasses with Elly Ameling, Wolfgang Holzmair, Walter Moore, Julius Drake, Rudolf Jansen, Edith Wiens, Jorma Hynninen, Wolfram Rieger and Rudolf Piernay. As a passionate recitalist Debora has performed regularly in both the Netherlands and abroad. In the summer of 2016 she will perform the title role of Offenbach&rsquos “Die schöne Helena” at Die Pasinger Fabrik in Munich, Germany.
