Bio

Daniel Sánchez Velasco (Avilés, 1972) studied orchestra conducting with Maximiano Valdés, Isaac Karabtchevsky, Leonid Grin, Neeme Järvi and Ari Rasilainen.  He has conduted the Jugend Philarmonie Salzburg (Austria), Orquesta del Teatro Lírico “G.Verdi” de Trieste (Italia), Pärnu City Orchestra (Estonia), Estonian Youth Chamber Orchestra, Estonian National Youth Symphony Orchestra, Nürnberger Sinfoniker (Germany), Sinfonieorchester der Musikhochschule Würzburg (Germany), Deutsche Staatsphilarmonie Rheinland-Pfalz (Germany), Mikkeli City Orchestra (Finland), Jÿvaskÿla Sinfonia (Finland), Joven Orquesta Sinfónica de Asturias, Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias (OSPA), Orquesta Sinfónica de Bilbao (BOS), Orquesta Ciudad de Granada (OCG), Orquesta de Extremadura (OEX) and Orquesta Clásica de Asturias. Now he is working on several projects as composer, arranger and conductor. He studied clarinet and piano in the conservatoires of Avilés, Oviedo and the Karlsruhe Music High School. In 2010 he got a scholarship from Asturias goverment to continue his conducting studies with Maestro Neeme Järvi in Estonia. In 2013 he finished the Master of Music in Performance for Orchestra Conducting in the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg (Germany) with the Maestro Ari Rasilainen. He has worked as assistant conductor for the Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, where he usually conducts several projects a year. Daniel Sánchez Velasco has a well-deserved reputation as composer. His pieces has been premiered Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, Oviedo Filarmonía, Orquesta Sinfónica de Gijón, Joven Orquesta del Principado de Asturias, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Orquesta de Extremadura, Sinfonieorchester der Musikhochschule Würzburg (Germany), Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco (México), Modesto Symphony Orchestra (USA) and Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra (USA). He has done all the orchestrations and also is co-writer of the project “Nora, Mauro and the dreams, a musical tale”, premiered on May 2014 with OSPA; a piece that join in one concert a symphony orchestra, children choir, ballet and narrator. It was a great success  in Asturias and in May 2015 he will take it to Granada with the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada. In the season 2015-16 he will premiere with OSPA his new piece “Flamenco Dances”, which is a commission from the chief conductor Rossen Milanov.
