Bio

Daniel Ohlmann was born in Germany, but grew up in Canada, where he completed his Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance at the University of Toronto, under the guidance of Jean MacPhail. An international Scholarschip brought him to Glasgow, Scotland, where he earned his Master of Music at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, under the tutelage of Peter Alexander Wilson. Daniel rounded off his studies with the Jeunes Voix du Rhin, the Opera Studio of the Opera National du Rhin in Strasbourg, France. In the last year, Daniel has studied intensively with the internationally renowned Tenor, Franco Farina. From 2002-2006, Daniel was a member of the Staatstoper Stuttgart, which was then "Opernhaus des Jahres". As a young lyric tenor, he performed such roles as Narraboth in Salome, Pong in Turandot, Arbace in Idomeneo, and Afred in Die Fledermaus. From 2006-2014, he was the main lyric tenor at the Oldenburgische Staatstheater, where he sang all of the lyric repertoire, mainly in the italien and french fach. Roles include Don Jose, Faust, Werther, Cavaradossi, Rodolfo, Pinkerton, Alfredo, Lensky, Tamino, Don Ottavio, Boris in Katja Kabanova, Jonathan in Saul, and quite a few more... Concert Repertoire includes Händel's Messiah, Elijah and Paulus by Mendelssohn, Mozart and Verdi Requiem. Guestings and Concerts have brought Daniel to theaters and concert halls such as Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Theater Bonn, Theater Ulm, Theater Regensburg, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Konzerthaus Berlin, Großes Festspielhaus in Salzburg, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Liederhalle Stuttgart, as well as Gran Canaria, Teneriffa, and Mallorca. Most recently, Daniel performed the roles of Hans in The Bartered Bride with Theater Münster and Jim Mahoney in Mahagonny, as well as Leopold in Im Weissen Rössl with the Volkstheater Rostock.
