The swift progress of the career of Polish bass Daniel Borowski attests to the outstanding quality of his voice, and his special gifts as a musician and actor. He has collaborated with the most celebrated conductors, directors, opera companies and orchestras, including Staatsoper Berlin where he appeared as the Commendatore in Don Giovanni with Daniel Barenboim; as Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, as Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Philip Jordan; as Banquo in Macbeth, conducted by Michael Gielen and as Oroveso in Norma. At Opéra du Rhin Strasbourg and at Schwetzingen Festival he appeared as the Commendatore in a Don Giovanni production directed by Achim Freyer, which was the telecast live worldwide on the ARTE Television Network. He was Colline in a new production of La Boheme at Frankfurt and Antwerp Opera (Robert Carsen production), the Water Sprite in Rusalka in the Netherlands TROS Radio, and Massimiliano in a concert performance of a Verdi rarity, I Masnadieri, in London under Sir Edward Downes, and he recorded Verdi's Jerusalem with Fabio Luisi (PHILIPS Classic, DECCA). His first assignment at Glyndebourne Festival was Simon Boccanegra under the baton of Mark Elder. He was the recipient of that season's John Christie Award.Daniel Borowski was selected as Debut Artist of the Year by The New York City Opera for his first season performances of Banquo in Macbeth, Colline in La Boheme and Commendatore in Don Giovanni, and was re-engaged to sing Raimondo in a new production of Lucia di Lammermoor.Mr Borowski was also at the roster of Metropolitan Opera. He sang his performances of Daland in Der Fliegende Holländer during the Spoleto Festival USA, and also played the role of Sparafucile in Rigoletto with Boston Lyric Opera. With the Grand Théâtre de Geneve he portrayed Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Performed Bartolo in La Nozze di Figaro in Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa and during the Festival la Coruna. In Minnesota Opera, Nantes and Angers Opera companies he appeared as Oroveso. In Basel Konzerthaus he sang a Gala Concert with Edita Gruberova and Neil Shicoff and was re-engaged to sing a Special Concert with Ramon Vargas and Christina Gallardo Domas under the baton of Fabio Luisi and sung at Richard Tucker Gala with Rene Fleming .To his ever-expanding repertoire, Mr. Borowski added Ermito Piero in a virtually unknown Donizetti work, Pia de Tolomei in Venice's rebuilt La Fenice. For his Teatro alla Scala debut he portrayed First Nazarene in the acclaimed Luc Bondy production of Salome under the baton of Daniel Harding. Additional career highlights include appearances as Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte in Teatro Real in Madrid with Marc Minkowski, San Diego Opera, Lyon Opera and Michigan Opera House in Detroit. He was also heard in The Rake's Progress at Santa Cecilia in Rome with Daniele Gatti, and Oroveso in Norma at Opéra de Montréal and Count in Sonnambula directed by Renata Scotto and conducted by Sir Richard Bonynge.Additional performances of Daniel Borowski include Don Fernando in Fidelio with Michael Tilson-Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony; Ferrando in Il Trovatore at Houston Grand Opera; Timur in Turandot in Montpellier Opera and Polish National Opera in Warsaw, as well as Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra at Sante Fe Opera. Mr.Borowski performed I Puritani at Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, King Roger by Szymanowski at Liceu Theatre in Barcelona, and Teatro Massimo in Palermo.In addition to Mr. Borowski's vocal talent is his outstanding versatility, which he displayed in the most prestigious opera houses around the world performing oratorio repertoire and concert performance that revealed his incisive musicianship. His most celebrated performances of that genre include Beethoven’s Christus am Olberge conducted by Marc Minkowski Orchestre National de France, the Mozart Requiem on tour in Germany: Bayerische Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, NDR Philharmonie Hannover, Alte Oper Frankfurt as well as in Birmingham Philharmonic Hall and Prague Philharmony with Sir Neville Marriner and the Orchestra of St. Martin's in the Fields, and in Torino with Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI and Roberto Abbado. He was also heard in Beethoven's 9th Symphony with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra in Suntory Hall, in concert performance of Verdi Don Carlo in Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and in Shostakovich 14th Symphony which was broadcast through Radio Classic Kopenhagen. He appeared on Nationwide Television RAI in Italy in a special Concerto per la Pace dedicated to victims of September 11th. Mr.Borowski made his debut at Spoleto, Italy's Festival of Two Worlds singing Mussorgsky's Songs and Dances of Death highly acclaimed by La Republica. Appeared in La Fenice and in Torino with Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI singing Mendelssohn's Die erste Walpurgisnacht with Sir Neville Marriner and at San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos in Lisbona, singing Berlioz's L'Enfance du Christ with Jeffrey Tate as well in Dresner Philharmonie with Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos. Mr.Borowski sang Stabat Mater by Dvorak with Helmut Rilling and Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart. His performance of Verdi's Requiem with National Symphony Orchestra in Washington with Sergiu Comissiona was reviewed by the critic of Washington Post :‘Daniel Borowski was a knockout.
