Bio

Even since she was a student at  National University of Music in Bucharest, Romania,  Ana-Maria Comsa was noted as a unique voice, with a dramatic temperament and a warmfull and sensitive sound and musicality. After obtaining her Master degree at the same University, Ana-Maria Comsa continued her studies at CUBEC (Centro Universale del Belcanto) in Vignola, Italy, as  a recipient of the Nikolai Ghiaurov Scholaship, where she studied with Mirella Freni ( 2006-2007 ). She also atteded Masterclasses with soprano Nelly Miricioiu and tenor Kaludi Kaludov. Her debut was the part of Micaela in Bizet's Carmen at “Oleg Danovsky” Opera and Ballet Theater in Constanta, Romania, in November 2008. Since 2009 Ana-Maria Comsa is part of National Opera of Bucharest Ensemble, where she performed the following roles:   Marguerite and Elena in Boito’s Mefistofele Senta in Wagner’s Der Fliegende Hollander Larina in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Oneguin Berta in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia Gertrud in Humperdink’s Hansel and Gretel She worked with various conductors: Keri Lynn Wilson, Neil Thompson, Marco Balderi, Cristian Mandeal, Iurie Florea, Tiberiu Soare, Vlad Conta, Razvan Cernat, Ilarion Ionescu Galati, Ciprian Teodorascu. Her operatic repertoire includes also Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana ­- Mascagni - performed different times in concert), Antonia ( Les Contes d’Hoffman – Offenbach) Grand Sacerdotessa ( Aida - Verdi), Anna ( Nabucco - Verdi),  La Dama di Lady Macbeth ( Macbeth - Verdi).   The vocal-simphonic repertoire includes: Cycle Nuits D’Ete – Berlioz, Requiem – Faure, Great Mass in C Minor - Mozart (second soprano) She performed in numerous concerts in the most important concert halls in Bucharest: Romanian Atheneum, National Radio Hall, Palace Hall and in different cities in Romania. Ana-Maria Comsa is the winner of different national and international competitions, for exemple: First prize for feminine voices and Primo Premio Assoluto at “Antonino Miserendino European Competition” in Palermo, Italy 2006 or Third Prize – International Competition “Franz Schubert” – Ruse, Bulgaria 2007 In August 2013, Ana-Maria Comsa paticipated in North Aegean Opera Festival in Chios, Greece where she attended a Masterclass and  was a part of the final concert with world famous soprano Cheryl Studer. Their collaboration continued also in October 2013 at Athenaeum "Maria Callas" in Athens, Greece where she attended another Masterclass with Cheryl Studer. Soprano Ana-Maria Comsa is now preparing the role of Desdemona in Verdi's Otello.
