Bio

Clara studied S.P.S. at Cambridge University, where she was awarded a choral scholarship with Clare College chapel choir. Her operatic roles include Dame Carruthers (The Yeomen of the Guard), Junon (Actéon), Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas), Third Lady (The Magic Flute), Zita (Gianni Schicchi), and La Zelatrice (Suor Angelica). She was an alto soloist in the world premiere of Stockhausen’s Mittwoch aus Licht for Birmingham Opera Company, as part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad, and recently sang Winnie in Mike Christie’s The Miller’s Wife at the Grimeborn Festival. Her concert performances include the St Matthew Passion, St John Passion, Israel in Eqypt, Messiah, Nelson Mass, Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Rutter’s Feel the Spirit, and Vivaldi’s Gloria at venues including London’s Purcell Room, St Martin-in-the-Fields and the Union Chapel. She has performed for the Beijing Music Festival, the Two Moors Festival and the Song in the City recital series, and has appeared as a soloist on BBC World Service Radio. Clara is also a featured soloist on Armonico Consort’s latest recording, Greensleeves. Future engagements include Didone Abbandonata with Ensemble Serse at the London Handel Festival in April 2014.
