The baritone Christophvon Weitzel 

studied singing with Barry Mora at the Frankurt Opera and Prof.
John Lester(USA). He took participation in a master course for Lied by
Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and in particular working with Kammersänger Walter Berry.
He has been a member of the Vogtland-Theater Plauen, the Mainfranken- Theater
and the Salzburger Landestheater. Christoph von Weitzel obtained engagements at
the opera houses of Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Zwickau, Regensburg, just to mention
a few. The baritone performes roles like Wolfram(Tannhäuser), Count and
Figaro(La nozze di Figaro), Sharpless(Madame Butterfly), Ottokar(Der
Freischütz),Escamilo(Carmen), Scarpia(Tosca) and many outhers. He has sung
operatic productions and Lied recitals in Austria, England, Denmark, Italy,
Poland, Czech republic and New Zealand.

Christoph von Weitzel´s
concert repertoire encompasses the European music of four centuries, beginning
with the works of the Renaissance and leading through Bach´s Oratorios and the
works of the classic and the romantic periods to contemporary composers. He
sang parts and Lieder in the world premiers of the works of such contemporary
composers as. G. Schedl, F.E. Spannheimer and H. Schmidt. This clearly underlines his artistic versatility.

The baritone loves, above
all, singing Lieder.

G. Rohde writes in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung: „Weitzel´s Lied
interpretation touches existential depths. Not only his beautiful singing is interesting, but the
sense of the words intensified through the music, by means of which the whole
acquires a special psychological profoundness.”

He sang Liederabende in
such famous concerthalls like Alten Oper Frankfurt/Main, Gasteig Philhamonie
München, Haddo House Aberdeen, Schubert Selskabet Denmark ,Palais am
Festungsgraben Berlin und and Laeizehalle Hamburg, Town Hall Auckland and many
others.



Christoph von Weitzel has
made a name for himself in particular with his scenic versions of
Schubert´s  “Winterreise” also in the
german well known project “Oper für Obdach”(Opera for shelter). One of the very
prominet patrons; Old Canceler Helmuth Schmidt. With this production he also
received also international invitations. Radio broadcasts and television
appearances, as well as a number of cd-recordings like , “Winterreise” (F.Schubert), “The most beatiful
German popular songs”, “The most beautifu German Christmas songs”, “Dem Wasser
zu singen” and “Helwich” (full opera recording of “Der Schmied von Marienburg”,
by Sigfried Wagner, son of R. Wagner) document
the range of his artistic activities.

He is artistic doirector of
the festival “DEIN LIED Internationales festival des Liedes in Rothenburg
o.od.Tauber” and the concerts “Orangerie-Konzerte Schloss Unternzenn”
