Bio

Praised by the Leipziger Volkszeitung and the Glasgow Herald for her lush sound and powerful expression, American soprano Christine Moore is a versatile performer equally at home among opera, recital, and contemporary music. A Regional Finalist (Pacific Region) in the Metropolitan Opera National Competition, she counts among her many roles Mimi in La Bohème with the Leipzig Opera, Madama Butterfly with the Central City Opera, Alice Ford in Falstaff, the title role in Suor Angelica at the Chautauqa Festival, Leonora in Il Ttrovatore, Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, among others.  Her orchestra and oratorio performances include Barber's Knoxville-Summer of 1915, Handel's Messiah, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Rossini's Stabat Mater, Mendelssohn's Elijah. In 2011 she made her Symphony Space debut as soprano soloist in the Verdi Requiem with the New York Choral Society.  Ms. Moore has performed numerous solo recitals of song literature in many languages, including her Spanish debut with the Festival de Canción Española in Granada in 2009 and at the Ateneo de Madrid in 2011, and has premiered and performed many new works by living composers, including Richard Thompson's song cycle The Shadow of Dawn at Merkin Hall and the NY concert version of his opera The Mask in the Mirror, Andrew Rudin’s Masha’s Arias with the Brooklyn New Music Collective, works of Michael Rose, Kareem Roustom and Steve Gerber, among many others, and premiered a song cycle by Roger Butterfield in a debut at Spectrum this year.  In 2008 she sang the world premiere of Mohammed Fairouz’s Tahwidah, written for her and Kinan Azmeh, and in January of 2013 she presented a concert of music of Arab composers at the Library at Lincoln Center, entitled “Nearer to East:  Chamber Music from the Arab World” featuring works by Arab and Arab-American composers, including Emmy-nominated Kareem Roustom, and made her U.K. concert debut in 2005 with Schönberg's Pierrot Lunaire at the Paxton Chamber Music Festival in Scotland. Radio appearances include WNYE and WBAI (New York City) and KRZA (New Mexico), and her recordings include “Christine Moore - Arias” with the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Todd Landor, conductor (Musical Concepts, 2006) and the soon to be released From Al Andalus to the Americas–An Odyssey of Spanish Song (Meridian Records, UK) which loosely traces the progression of classical Spanish song from its early influences in pre-1492 Spain. The summer of 2013 marked her Italian debut at the Narnia Music Festival in a “Concerto Verdiano” singing Verdi arias and ensemble under the baton of maestro Lorenzo Porzio in celebration of the composer’s 200th birthday. Last spring marked her debut as Leonora in Il Trovatore, her singing described as “velvety and luscious toned” by SongWordSight Magazine. Future performances include Donna Elvira with Park Slope Opera and concerts with Ensemble Solisten in Taggia, Italy and in Stuttgart, singing Wagner’s Wesendoncklieder.  www.christinemooresoprano.com.
