Bio

Tenor Casey Finnigan is distinguishing himself as an important operatic singer of this generation, performing a variety of roles and garnering awards and accolades on a national level. Noted by Scott Cantrell of The Dallas Morning News as “…a sit-up-and-take-notice tenor voice,”  this season at Fort Worth Opera, Finnigan will originate the role of Nikita Khrushchev in the world première of David T. Little and Royce Vavrek’s opera JFK, which tells the story final twelve hours of the 35th president’s life and time spent in Fort Worth, Texas. He will also appear as Rodolfo in La bohème at Syracuse Opera.   In recent seasons, Finnigan performed Don José in Peter Brook’s La tragédie de Carmen at Opera Naples; Calàf in Turandot at St. Petersburg Opera; Garcin in Andy Vores’ Chamber Opera No Exit and Abdallo in Nabucco at Florida Grand Opera; Don Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro at San Francisco Opera’s Merola Program; Steuerman in Der fliegende Holländer at Lyric Opera Kansas City; and Cavaradossi in Tosca and Don José in Carmen at Opera in the Ozarks. In concert, Finnigan appeared in Carmina burana with Kansas City Ballet, and Händel’s Messiah with Austin Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Finnigan holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice from University of North Texas, where he performed Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, Tybalt in Roméo et Juliette, and Rodolfo in La bohème. He also earned a Master of Music in Voice degree from University of Houston where he performed in several contemporary works including Leoš Janáček’s Cunning Little Vixen, Robert Aldridge’s Elmer Gantry, Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring, and Daniel Catán’s Il Postino. He continued his training in Young Artist and Apprenticeship programs including Lyric Opera of Kansas City where he covered Mao Zedong in Nixon in China and Calaf inTurandot; Florida Grand Opera where he covered Orin Mannon in Mourning Becomes Electra; and San Francisco Opera’s world-renowned Merola Program.
