"Brandon Keith Brown was the most convincing performerof Ravel's work. His interpretation of the overture to Wagner's opera Rienzialso became an exciting subject. Full of temperament and design potential, heavoided any factual and cool approach. Here was a young conductor on thepodium, who knew how to create his own sound world and breathe with theorchestra. The American built up tension and dynamism(...) Brandon Keith Brown, the favorite of the audience, won the third prize. Brown has the greatestpotential for development, for his conducting possessed a deep feeling as wellas the urge to design. Without these qualities, a conductor will hardly be ableto please the audience in the long term. "
