Bio


Blerta Zhegu was born in Tirana (Albania). She began her musical studies in her homeland, accompanied by Nina Mula (mother and teacher of the soprano Inva Mula), to continue her training with several specializations at the conservatories Claudio Monteverdi” in Bolzano,Italy and « Darius Milhaud » in Aix en Provence. Thereafter, Blerta has studied with Nathaniel Brodsky (a retired soloist having performed with the Chicago Opera and the Metropolitan Opera in New York). In addition, she participated in master classes involving many illustrious singers such as Renato Bruson, Leo Nucci, Luciana Serra, Yvonne Minton, Sophie Koch, Jose van Dam, Enzo Tei, Ermonela Jaho, Inva Mula, ect
Blerta Zhegu’s professional career began at the Bolzano Municipal Theatre with the role of Lucy in Gian Carlo Menotti’s “The Telephone”. In Italy, she embarked on a series of concerts in the theatres of Sienna, Vicenza, Rovigo and Bolzano and later on, she played the role of another Lucy in Kurt Weill’s “The Three penny Opera” at the Theater Carlo Goldoni in Livorno, and Theater of Giglio, Lucca. In Albania, she performed in several concerts, played the role of Adine in Gaetano Donizetti’s “Elisir d’amore” and was the main soprano in “Carmina Burana”and “Midsummer night’s dream” at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana.
She will follow with other successful collaborations with many other famous artists such as Vittorio Parisi, Nathalie Marin, Kyra Parfeveets, Oleg Arapi, Eddie de Nadai, Roni Porat, Emir Saul, Edmond Doko, Maniola Camuset Trebicka and Samuel Jean. In November 2012, Blerta was invited to Quito (Ecuador) as a soloist in Gustav Mahler`s 4th symphony, a performance highly acclaimed by the public. During 2013-2014, Blerta was one of the CNIPAL (Centre National d’Artistes Lyriques in Marseille) artists. During this time, she performed in many concerts at the Opera of Marseille, Opera of Avignon and Domaine d’O in Montpellier. In France, she performed also in different concerts at the Auditorium Campra, Pavillon Vendome, Hotel de Ville of Aix en Provence, Temple Grignan, Marseille and in Cathedrale St Croix des Armeniens, Paris for « Etoiles Albanaises » where she performed again in April 2016 in her Recital Concert. In july 2015 she was chosen to participate at the International Academy of French Music organised by the well-known conductor Michel Plasson finalised by a concert in the Domaine du Regismont le Haut.
Blerta Zhegu is the winner of different prizes: 1st Prize in the "Arskosova" Competition Pristina Kosovo, Special Prize of the Jury in the VI Rassegna Concertistica of Montichiari, Italy and the III Prize of the "Trofeo la Fenice" Competition of Seravezza, Italy. In december 2014 she was the protagonist (Valeria) of the world premiere "Il canto dell'amore trionfante »of Paolo Coletta in the Theater Coccia of Novara.
She was again Valeria in Pristina Kosovo the and she performed in several Recital Concerts in the Opera Grand d’Avignon, Hotel d'Olivary Aix en Provence, Auditoruim du Petit Palais Paris, Ateliers de Venelles dans le cadre du Festival d'Aix en Provence ect.
