After graduating High Music School (piano department) in Montenegro, Biljana moves to Italy, where she achieves Superior Academic Opera Singing Diploma at G. Verdi Conservatory, in Milan. She attended master classes with Renata Scotto, Marcello Giordani, Alessandro Corbelli, Maurizio Arena, Anna Vandi, and she has studied with Viktor N. Stulov, Mauro Trombetta, Carmen Stara and Alberto Gazale. She worked on baroque repertoire with M. Mijanovic and continues to work regularly with Mrs. Lella Cuberli and Sonia Prina in Milan.

Biljana is winner and finalist of many International Competitions, such as “Toti dal Monte” (Falstaff, 2006), “Maria Callas – Voce di donna” (Cerignola, 2008), Primo Palcoscenico debut of Zita in Gianni Schicchi (Cesena 2008), and the roles in Dido and Aeneas for Tuscany Opera Studio (2007). She has also been awarded the third prize at the Bella Voce International Competition (Moscow, 1999) and a full scholarship from the Soloist Academy of the Torre del Lago Puccini Festival, where she performed in leading roles of Sister Angelica with Torre del Lago Foundation Orchestra (2010).Biljana Kovac’s wide repertoire spans from baroque music to contemporary pieces. Her voice is defined as "contralto of particular depth and of unusual richness and quality" (Messaggero Veneto). She has performed in prestigious productions: as a guest performer for A. Scarlatti’s anniversary celebration in Rome with Concerto de’ Cavalieri Baroque Ensemble (2010). She performed as the title role soloist in Handel’s Orlando with New Trinity Baroque Orchestra in Belgrade (2015). Very successful was her interpretation of Bach’s Magnificat alto soloist with Orchestra and Choir of Radio Television Serbia (2015).Biljana was also a protagonist of two contemporary operas (“Satyricon” by B. Maderna and “Alfred, Alfred” by F. Donatoni) in the Ist Contemporary Music Festival organized by Arena di Verona Foundation (2007), as a title role soloist of III Opera Festival in Brasilia in Bizet’s Carmen (2013), as Mrs. Quickly in all major theatres of Holland and Bulgaria (2013) as a soloist for Rome Opera Theatre (Elektra by R. Strauss), Verona Camploy Theatre, Trieste Roman Theatre, Imperia Opera Theatre (Suor Angelica by G. Puccini), Pisa Opera Theatre, Livorno Opera Theatre, Lucca Opera Theatre (Dido & Aeneas by H. Purcell), Milan Theatre “Dal Verme” (Cavalleria Rusticana by P. Mascagni), Zagreb Academy Theatre (Orfeo ed Euridice by C. W. Gluck), Bonci Theatre in Cesena (Gianni Schicchi by G. Puccini), Verdi Hall in Milan (The Little Sweep by B. Britten, Rigoletto and Falstaff by G. Verdi).

She also performs in solo recitals with orchestra (Russian Symphonic Orchestra directed by M. Fedotov, CNP Orchestra directed by Elisabeth Attl, I Pomeriggi Musicali Orchestra with G. P. Sonzogno), where she performed also Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder and 2nd Symphony, as well as in recitals for Arena di Verona’s “Anteprima all’Opera” (Verona) and in other important auditoriums in Milan, Pisa, Rome, Lecco, Pisa, Imperia, Pavia, Zagreb. She performed in a concert with Montserrat Caballe for ATP tour opening in Croatia (Umag, 2011).

Biljana speaks fluently Russian, English and Italian, speaks well French and German and she has also graduated Biochemistry at Lomonosov Moscow State University with maximum votes.
