Bio

Mezzo soprano Benedetta Orsi is a graduate of the Regia Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna in the studio of tenor Sergio Bertocchi, and of Modena&rsquos Istituto Musicale Pareggiato Orazio Vecchi. Although she has begun making a name for herself in Italy, she is currently living and working in New York City. Ms. Orsi participated in masterclasses with Marilyn Horne, Luciana Serra, Fred Carama, Chuck Hudson and Teresa Berganza, who defined Ms. Orsi "a perfect voice for bel canto.” Benedetta is one of only a few contemporary mezzo sopranos to have per- formed all three of Donizetti's Tudor Operas: Jane Seymour in Anna Bolena, Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda and Sara in Roberto Devereux. She has won Third Prize in the Roschel Vocal Competition, First Prize in the Barry Alexander IVC, Audience and Orchestra Award in the Boulder Music In- stitute IV and First Prize and Star Performer Award in the American Protégé IMTC. Her new album, “Christmas Around the World” won the Silver Medal at the Global Music Awards (Dec. 2015) as Best Album and she won the same medal as Best Female Vocalist. Benedetta is no stranger to the stages of Carnegie Hall and will be returning there in 2016 as a special guest artist for the Ninth Annual ABC Gala. Recent performances also include Norma, Un Ballo in Maschera with the Miami Lyric Opera; Cavalleria Rusticana with New Jersey Festival Orchestra and a special performance in La Sonnambula with the New National Theater of Tokyo. She was also chosen as Carmen by the Boulder Symphony and she is collaborating with New Jersey State Opera. The tour for the release of her new album touched Italy, Spain, America and will continue with few dates in China next winter.
