Bio




Bekir Serbest was born in
Izmir, Turkey in 1989. With the encouragement of his elementary school music
teacher, Hülya
Bıkmaz, he entered
local and regional music competitions and received awards in various
categories. In 2003 his teacher succesfully prepared him for the music
department auditions at Işılay Saygın
Anatolian Fine Arts High School. He graduated after four years of intensive
piano and viola instruction.

In 2009, Bekir Serbest was accepted to the Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory Vocal Department. During his studies he attended masterclass with many important artists such as Rockwell Blake, Alessandro Corbelli, Armando Ariostini, Manuela Custer, Francis Keeping, Burak Bilgili, Kartal Karagedik, Sebahat Tekebaş and the Turkish orchestra conductor and composer Selman Ada.

In 2012, Bekir succesfully auditioned Schleswig - Holstein Music Festival Choir and performed F. Mendelssohn's Die Erste Walpurgisnacht with conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada, G. Puccini's Turandot with conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson and J. Brahm's Ein Deutches Requiem with conductor Rolf Beck at the festival in 2012 summer.

In 2013 May, he performed G. F. Haendel's Messiah tenor solo which conducted by Tulio Gagliardo Varas in Izmir, Turkey.

Bekir has graduated from Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory Opera Department as a
fifth year voice student of tenor Aydın Uştuk of the Izmir State Opera and Ballet in 2013 June. After the
graduation he continued his studies with accompanist/vocal coach Sylvain Souret
of Izmir State Opera. In the same period he's invited by İzmir State Opera and Ballet of Turkey to
perform Ernesto from Don Pasquale of G. Donizetti.

In 2013 December, Bekir moved to Italy. At the end of year, he succesfully auditioned for Coro
Maghini and since then he is one of the additional members of this choir.

In 2014 June, he performed A.Vivaldi's Gloria and W. A. Mozart's Krönnungmesse with Chorakademie Lübeck and Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano/Trento and conductor Hansjorg Albrecht.

In 2014 September, he performed Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with Coro Maghini and Orchestra Rai under the baton of Juraj Valčuha.

In 2014 October, he performed W. A. Mozart Requiem K.626 with Chorakademie Lübeck and Warsow Orchestra which conducted by Rolf Beck.

In 2015 January, he performed Tan Dun's Water Passion in Hamburg and Lübeck with Chorakademie Lübeck and the composer/conductor Tan Dun.

In 2015 February, he performed J. S. Bach Motettes with Chorakademie Lübeck in Lübeck and Schleswig with conductor Helmuth Rilling.

In 2015 May, he performed Thomas, König der Egyptien by W. A. Mozart in Torino with Coro Maghini and Orchestra da Camera Giovanni Battista Polledro which conducted by Federico
Bisio.

In 2015 June, he had a tournee in Brasil with Chorakademie Lübeck and Conductor Rolf Beck, and he performed Carmina Burana of Carl Orff and songs from Schubert, Schumann, Brahms.

In 2015 August he performed Bach Motettes with Chorakademie Lübeck and conductor Rolf Beck in Rheingau Musik Festival in Germany.

In September 2015 he was invited to Dolnośląski Festiwal Muzyczny in Poland to perform two oratorios of S. Moniuszko as soloist.

In October 2015 he had a tournée in China with Chorakademie Lübeck to perform A. Schoenberg's
Guerrelieder with Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and the director Rousicka.

In November 2015 he performed Musikalische Exequien of Schütz and Christus am Ölberg of Beethoven in Bamberg Music Festival with Bamberg Symphony Orchester Choir under the baton of Rolf
Beck.

In December 2016 he performed Weinachtsoratorium of J. S. Bach with conductor Helmuth Rilling in different cities in South Germany.

In 2016 February, he gave a recital with the compositions of P. Tosti. In the same month he won the autidion of TeatrOperando of Bologna to perform Conte Almaviva from il Barbiere di
Siviglia of Rossini and Don Ottavio from Don Giovanni of Mozart.

In 2016 April, he performed in the recording session of Schubert, Schumann, Brahms and Dvorjak songs with Chorakademie Lübeck in Blaibach, Germany.

In June 2016 he performed Lobgesang of Felix Mendelssohn and Te Deum of Anton Bruckner with the choir of Bamberger Symphoniker under the baton of Herbert Blomstedt.

In 2016 September he won the competition I Ruoli d'Opera, the role of Conte Almaviva from the opera il Barbiere di Siviglia of Rossini.

In 2016 October made a tournée in China as a choir member of Chorakademie Lübeck an performed the premiere of J. S. Bach's Johannes Passion and Tan Dun's Water Passion in Shanghai.

In 2016 Novembre, he performed the role of Ciclamino in the operetta Cin Ci La of C. Lombardo and V. Ranzato in Sesto San Giovanni in Milano.

In 2016 Novembre he performed the role of Roderigo from Otello of G. Verdi in the form of concert, in Rovato, Italy.

In 2017 February, he performed Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn's cantatas as a choir singer of Coro Maghini with Orchestra Rai, under the baton of Christian Arming.

In 2017 February, he debuted the role of Camille in La Vedova Allegra (Die Lustige Witwe) of F. Lehar with artists as Armando Ariostini, Valeria Esposito, Marta Calcaterra in Casa Verdi, Milano.

In 2017 November, he performed Weinachtsoratorium of J. S. Bach in Tong Yeong, South Korea as a singer of Chorakademie Lübeck.



In 2018 January, he performed Wagner’s Götterdämmerung concerts and album recording session with Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra as a choir member of Bamberg Symphony Choir in Hong Kong, China, under the baton of Music Director of New York Philharmony, Jaap Van Zweden.

In 2018 March, he performed b minor mass of J. S. Bach with Chorakademie Lübeck in Lübeck and Bayreuth.  

In 2018 March, he performed as a choir member of Coro Maghini Lobgesang di F. Mendelssohn with Orchestra Rai, under the baton of Kazuki Yamada.

In 2018 May, he performed Petite Messe Solennelle of G. Rossini as soloist in Torino with the Director Guido Maria Guida.

In 2018 May, as a choir singer of Coro Maghini, he performed Der Fliegende Hollander of R. Wagner with Orchestra Rai, under the baton of Director James Conlon.

In 2018 June and July he performed the role of Lindoro in G. Rossini's l'Italiana in Algeri in Carmagnola and San Martino Alfieri, in Italy. 

As a result of the audition of "Laboratorio sulla vocalita' Donizettiana" the artist is going to perform the leading role Guido in the version for children of Donizetti's "Enrico di Borgogna" during Donizetti Festival in November 2018, in Bergamo, Italy. 

The artist lives in Torino, Italy since 2014.
