Bio

Anthony Schneider is a trilingual (English, French and German) operatic bass from Austria and New Zealand. He holds a Bachelor of Music with Honors (Voice Performance) from the University of Auckland. He is now a student at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia where he has performed Archibaldo in L’amore deitre re, IlCommendatore in Don Giovanni, Méphistophélès in Faust, Colline in La Bohème, and Conte des Grieux in Manon. Anthony covered the role of Banquo in Macbeth, the Sprecher and 2nd Priest in Die Zauberflöteand performed the role of 2nd Armed Man as part of the Glimmerglass Festival 2015.   Equally at home on the concert stage, Anthony sang in Handel's Messiah with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2014, performed Sibelius songs with Lyric Fest in Philadelphia, and was part of Baltimore Concert Opera’s Cabalettas and Cabernets showcase. In January 2016 he was selected as one of four participants in Joyce DiDonato’sMasterclasses in Carnegie Hall.   Anthony was a Semifinalist for the 2016 Metropolitan Opera Nation Council Auditions. 2015 Prizes include an Encouragement Award in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Mid Atlantic Region, an Encouragement Award in the GerdaLissnerFoundation Lieder/Song Competition, 3rd prize in the Partners for the Arts Competition, and 2ndPrize in the Giargiari BelCanto Competition. Anthony is also the proud recipient of a Kiri teKanawaFoundation Scholarship
