Bio


Anthony works extensively as a freelance musical director, conductor, pianist, orchestrator, arranger and vocal coach, and has established an international reputation for conducting with tremendous passion born of a profound knowledge and understanding of the repertoire.

Anthony is a prize winner in the biennial Blue Danube Musik Impresario (Vienna) International Opera Conducting Competition, and has worked with orchestras & companies as diverse as the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the British Philharmonic Orchestra, the Guernsey Camerata, the Britten Sinfonia, the Manchester Camerata, the Abai State Kazakh National Opera & Ballet Theatre in Almaty (Kazakhstan), and the Bulgarian State Opera in Ruse & Pleven.

In his wonderfully varied career, Anthony has enjoyed working with artists such as the internationally-renowned percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie; Italian Tenor, Fabio Armiliato; American Tenor, Noah Stewart; and Welsh Baritone, Gary Griffiths. As the Principal Conductor of the British Sinfonietta, Anthony conducted the Opening Gala Concert and the Spirit of Unity Concert at the 2014 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. In association with IMG Artists London, he has presented Psycho Live! - screenings of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film Psycho accompanied by a live performance of Bernard Herrmann’s score with various orchestras around the UK. Earlier this year Anthony made his debut with Raymond Gubbay Ltd. conducting the London Concert Orchestra at London's Barbican Hall.

Anthony’s musical theatre credits include South Pacific, Blood Brothers, Ken Hill’s Phantom of the Opera, A Grand Night For Singing, Chess, Dear World, CATS (Australian Tour, UK & International Tour, and the West End Revival), Grease, The Wizard of Oz, Bye Bye Birdie, The Lion King (London’s West End, Sydney, Melbourne & Shanghai) and Forever Plaid. He was Musical Director/Conductor on the West End production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera - during which time the show celebrated its record-breaking 10,000th performance, and Musical Director/Conductor for Cameron Mackintosh’s 25th Anniversary UK Touring Production of the show. Most recently, Anthony was in Australia as Musical Director/Conductor for a semi-staged, concert production of Funny Girl at the State Theatre (Arts Centre Melbourne), directed by Gale Edwards and starring Caroline O’Connor.

Anthony’s operatic credits include Don Carlo, La Traviata, La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Cenerentola, Don Giovanni, The Magic Flute and Orpheus in the Underworld.
