«"Her comic timing is excellent – all boggly-eyed malice aforethought – and the voice is spot on, evenly produced across the range, with a good use of comic bottom notes"»
Clive Paget, Limelight Magazine (2016)
«"The obvious star of the show however is Anna McDougall as Jo. Her supple, strong and colourful mezzo instrument, her admirable stamina and memory with this challenging, enormous role, and her obvious sense of humour and acting chops mark her out as one to watch. She is a natural for the rambunctious and “trouser” roles so often demanded of mezzos."»
Holly champion (2016)
«"Anna’s voice is well-produced, rich in tone and has good cut. She is easily heard in a theatre and it is always a delight to hear her sing...She is vocally strong, a good actress, and her Italian diction was accurate and well-prepared."»

Sydney-born mezzo-soprano Anna McDougall was hailed by Australia's leading music magazine Limelight  as a singer “to watch out for”, and demand for her time and talent continues to increase with her new presence in the European scene. After completing her studies, she was contracted directly into the title role for a children's adaptation of Rossini’s La Cenerentola with Opera Australia. This was followed by the lead role of Elizabeth in the new opera Monsoon by Bernard Leon with the PromFest Festival of Australian Works, as well as La Zia Principessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica in Prague. After working with legendary baritone Sherrill Milnes and director Maria Zouves in a 2016 production of Don Giovanni at the Estates Theatre, they contracted her for a 2017 production of The Marriage of Figaro as part of the Savannah Voice Festival in the USA. 2017 will also see Anna McDougall performing the role of Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana with Pocket Opera Wiesbaden in her current home country, Germany.

Other roles include Miss Todd in Menotti’s The Old Maid and theThief; Frugola in Puccini’s Il Tabarro with Harbour City Opera; Mercedes in Carmen with Opera New England; Kate in The Pirates of Penzance; The Queen of the Fairies in Iolanthe; and the lead role of Jo March in Mark Adamo’s Little Women, with critics describing her as “superb, both as an actress and singer”. She is currently employed in the chorus of the Hessen State Theatre in Wiesbaden.
