Anna Maria Wierød is master in classical singing from the Royal Academy of Music, Denmark, where she also had her advanced postgraduate soloist debut concert – a self-staged solo performance which had over 600 listeners! She specialized in early music performance under Harry van der Kamp at Hochschule für Künste, Bremen, and at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, under Evelyn Tubb & Anthony Rooley. Annas greatest passion is the combination of singing and acting. Her greatest challenge on stage was performing the double role as Dido & Sorceres (Händel), around Danish Swimming halls with a small professional chamber opera company, acting both in water and on dry land. One of her favorite things to do, is performing baroque operas in baroque theatres, e.g. when she played Apollo in Il Parnaso Confuso (Gluck), using authentic costumes and historical gesture technics. Anna has been touring in most parts of Europe with the renaissance ensemble Pantagruel, with whom she in 2011 published the CD “Nymphidia”. It got several 5 stars reviews, became CD of the week on Deutsche Radio, and gave Anna praising words like: ”in einer Liga wie z.B. die große Emma Kirby. Ein seltenes Ausnahmetalent”(Musik an Sich) and ”Her voice is full and warm, capable of being piercing in its intense purity, she deploys it with winning, unmannered charm”(Allmusic.com). As oratorio- and concert singer Anna is often performing around Denmark and Europe with ensembles such as: Ensemble Zimmermann (DK), Baroque Aros (DK), Copenhagen  Soloists(DK), Ensemble SYD (SE) and Balthasar-Neumann-Chor (DE).
As chair member of the music societis Academy Middle & the Pause Opera, Anna is project leader and main singer in various projects like “Opera in the Nature”, “Opera in Swimming hall”, “Opera on a bike” etc. with performances all over Denmark. In 2015 Anna received the Leonie Sonning Music Grant, a scholarship that cannot be applied for, and is given every year to young, talented musicians in Scandinavia.  In august 2016 Anna has her debut at Copenhagen Opera Festival playing Serpina in Pergolesis beloved La Serva Padrona.
