The Belgian soprano Anna Maistriau joined the ensemble of the Landestheater Neustrelitz (Germany) in 2014, where she performed Clorinda in Cenerentola, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, the title role in Flotow’s Martha and Minnie Fay in Hello Dolly in her first season, and in the 2015/16 season Sandmännchen/Taumännchen in Humperdinck’s Hänsel & Gretel, Martha, Anne Frank in Frid’s Das Tagebuch der Anne Frank and Marie in Lortzing’s Zar und Zimmermann. 

As of 2016/17 Anna is freelance and begins the season with the Polish Premiere of Frid’s Anne Frank’s Diary (in Polish) at the International Krzysztof Penderecki Festival - level 320 in Zabrze. She will also embody the title part in Verdi's Luisa Miller at the Kammeroper Hamburg. ‘Migrants’, her first recording for the Spanish label CalandaMusic (with Markus Baisch at the piano), includes a repertoire of songs of Menotti, Halffter, Zemlinsky, Eisler und Weill and will be released soon…

In 2012 Anna made her debut at Brussel’s La Monnaie, and in 2013 at the Opéra National du Rhin and at the Savonlinna Opera Festival, where she was engaged to cover the role of Violetta Valéry in Verdi’s La Traviata. Her repertoire includes the roles of Zerlina (Mozart's Don Giovanni), Gretel (Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel), Lucy (Menotti's Telephone), Berenice (Rossini's L’Occasione fa il ladro), Anna I (Weill's Seven Deadly Sins) and Suzanne (Ganne's Les Saltimbanques).  Anna has performed the principal role at the World Premiere of Brackx’s Die Entführung aus dem Paradies, and took part as an opera singer at many productions of drama theatre, including “Aïda” (NTGent, 2010) and “Princess Turandot”, a co-production of Walpurgis/Het Paleis, touring in 2011-2014 in Belgium, France and the Netherlands, awarded the 2014 Prize of the Musical Youth International. Anna is also an experienced concert singer with a repertoire ranging from Bach to Pärt. 

Anna has performed with Brussels Opera, Flanders Opera, NTGent, Strasbourg Opera, Metz Opera, St-Etienne Opera, Landestheater Neustrelitz, Theater Gera, Theater für Niedersachsen, Brussels BOZAR, Bruges Concertgebouw, Liège’s Philharmonic Hall, Nancy’s Salle Poirel, Abbaye de Royaumont, La Chaise-Dieu, Festival van Vlaanderen, Printemps baroque du Sablon, Operadagen Rotterdam, and with the Agrémens, the Orchestre National de Lorraine, the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, and the Poème Harmonique, under the direction of such conductors as Michael Boder, Paolo Carignani,  Maurizio Dini Ciacci, Paul Daniel, Vincent Dumestre, Jean-Pierre Haeck, Paolo Olmi, Pascal Rophé, and directors such as Robert Carsen, Mariusz Trelinski, Frank Van Laecke, Steven Van Watermeulen, Jean-François Vinciguerra, Judith Vindevogel and Krzysztof Warlikowski. Anna’s passion for music began at a very early age, and she subsequently studied piano and then singing at the conservatories of Brussels and Nancy.  She continued to hone her skills at masterclasses under artists such as Dalton Baldwin, Christa Ludwig, Yvonne Kenny and Cheryl Studer, and won the prize for interpretation at the Francisco Viñas International Singing Competition 2006 while still student.

Anna lives now in Germany and speaks fluently French, English, German, Italian and Dutch.
