Bio

Andrea Tusacciu, Italian conductor and pianist, was born in Cagliari in 1980. He is the founder and artistic director of the Carloforte Music Festival since 2013, where he has collaborate with fine soloists such as Anna Tifu, Enkeleida Shkoza, Theodosia Ntokou, Romeo Scaccia, Fabio Furia and Alice Lestang. In summer 2014, he was invited by Lorin Maazel to participate as Associate Conductor at the Castleton Festival. Andrea Tusacciu has performed in the most important European concert halls including the Berliner Phlharmonie and the Bozar in Brussels. So far, he has conducted the Orchestre Régionale de Cannes PACA, the Berliner Camerata, the Berlin Sinfonietta, the SymphoniaASSAI, the Ensemble Orchestral de Valencia, the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Cagliari, the Ruse Philharmonic, the Jenaer Philharmonic Orchestra, the Moldavian National Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Andrea Tusacciu graduated with honours in piano and orchestral conducting from the Conservatorio P. da Palestrina in Cagliari, the Ecole Normale A. Cortot in Paris, and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. He had the opportunity to study and work with internationally renowned conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Ronald Zollman, Jorma Panula, Dominique Rouits, Mikail Jurowsky, Nicolas Pasquet, Giancarlo Andretta, George Pehlivanian, and Georg Christoph Sandmann. Prize winner at several international competitions, he was awarded a five years’ full scholarship by the Regione Autonoma della Sardegna, and he is supported by the Fondazione Banco di Sardegna.
