He actively promotes forgotten or rarely played composers like Ullmann, Gál and especially Frank Martin.Alexander also regularly and passionately conducts projects that transcend narrow boundaries between genres. Current examples are two sensational ballet productions at the Basel Theater (Tewje) and in Lausanne (Beethoven IX with the Béjart ballet). A close artistic partnership connects him with soloists like Gautier Capuçon, Tzimon Barto, Geir Draugsvoll, Felix Froschhammer and the klezmer band Kolsimcha. In addition to his work with professional orchestras and choirs, he is the first guest conductor of the Landes-Jugend-Symphonie-Orchester Saar (since 2008). He is strongly committed to music education and teaches frequently. Furthermore, Alexander regularly performs as an organist and chamber musician.
