Bio

Young Russian pianist Alexander Chaplinskiy graduated with honors from Saint- Petersburg Glinka Choral College, where he studied piano with Andrey Gorlov and Eugene Sirotkine. In 2004 Alexander was invited to the Mikhailovsky Theatre as an accompanist, where he performed in the premiers of "Iolanta” by Peter Tchaikovsky, "Peter the First” by Andrey Petroff, "Silva” by Emmerich Kalmann and "The Three Musketeers” by Alexander Tchaikovsky. Since 2006 Alexander has been working as a pianist and accompanist at the Saint- Petersburg State Conservatory Chamber Choir. He has participated in different projects including "Yaroslavna” ballet by Boris Tischenko, "Stabat Mater” by Tomaso Traetta, "Requiem” by Igor Vorobioff, "Catulli Carmina” by Carl Orff (original piano version). At the same time Alexander was invited by the Saint-Petersburg State University to join its choir as a pianist, arranger and accompanist. There, he had the opportunity to coach the chorus and perform as keyboard player in Gustav Mahler's "Symphony 8”. He was also a part of the Russian premiers of "Messa per la pace" and Requiem by Karl Jenkins. As a music director, Alexander also works on his own projects, the most recent being the Russian premier of Steve Reich's "Eight Lines” and "Tehillim” and world premier "The day of Angel” by Maria Grigoryeva. Since 2009 Alexander Chaplinskiy has been an accompanist at the Glinka Choral College. In 2013 Mr. Chaplinskiy made his American solo piano debut at the Kosciuszko Foundation (New York) as well as performances at Marcella Sembrich Museum (Lake George) and private concerts in upstate New York . In 2014 Alexander was invited to Mariinsky Theater as an accompanist for the project of Maestro Valery Gergiev "The Children Chorus of Russia”. Alexander’s 2015 performances included Piano Recital at the Saint-Petersburg University: performance in Carnegie Hall at Weill Recital Hall as a finalist of the Forte International Music Competition, Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto 2 with "Moskovsky” Cultural Centre Symphony conducted by Vladimir Smirnoff. In 2016 Mr. Chaplinskiy was engaged in Tchaikovsky's "Iolanta" and Mussorgsky's "Boris Godunov" production by New Opera NYC as an accompanist, vocal coach and assiatant conductor. Also he was a part of Lermontov's "Demon" performance in St. Marks Place Theatre in New York as a music director and composer.
