Bio

Italian-German Soprano Alessia Schumacher enjoyed a very musical upbringing since anearly age. With four years only she started the harp, two years later the piano and finally discovered her great love for the violin. With twelve years she was accepted into the Conservatorio di Musica „Giuseppe Verdi“ in Como, where she joined the voice class of Prof. Rubin with nineteen. Parallel to hear scholastic and musical studies Alessia pursued an acting education and took part in a number of productions. In 2011 she developed the theatre piece „Deus ex machina“ in collaboration with actress/writer Denise Teipel, which has been performed throughout Austria, London and Istanbul. Alessia went on to graduate in History of Art and Musicology at the University of Vienna. As she took up singing again, she first studied privately in Vienna and Bolzano, then gained her Bachelor degree from the prestigious Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ in Berlin in 2017. She is currently completing her vocal studies with a Masters program at the Conservatori Liceu in Barcelona. Alessia has been awarded a number of scholarships (Bayreuth scholarship 2016, Lucia Loeser Kulturfonds, DAAD scholarship, Bernbeck Stiftung excellency scholarship) and is a young artist of the Yehudi Menuhin "Live Music Now" Foundation. Her roles include Pamina/Zauberflöte, Musetta/La Bohème, Romilda/Serse, Echo/Ariadne auf Naxos, Susanna/Le nozze di Figaro, Frasquita/Carmen, First Lady/Zauberflöte, Zerlina/Don Giovanni and Schönbergs Pierrot Lunaire. Alessia won the Concorso Lirico Internazionale „Premio Boni“ 2017 and gained the 3. Prize at the Brussels International Voice Competition „Triomphe de l’Art“ in 2016. She gave her Berlin Philharmonie debut in 2015 as Lucy in Menotti's "Telephone" with the Berlin Philharmonic and celebrated her Konzerthaus Berlin debut as Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel, Humperdinck) in december 2016. As a winner of the international Sommeroper Rheinsberg competition she will make her debut in the role of Michaela from Bizet's Carmen in summer 2017.
