Aleksandra Jovanović is a coloratura soprano from Serbia.
OPERA / CONCERT PLATFORM
After making her house debut in Deutsche Oper Berlin in season 2018/19 as Queen of the Night / THE MAGIC FLUTE, Aleksandra will return to this house in the following season and make some exciting house debuts - in the same role she will be performing in Vienna State Opera and Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, and as Le feu I Le rossignol / L'ENTFANT ET LES SORTILÈGES in Paris Opera (Palais Garnier).
In 2013 Aleksandra made her stage debut as Queen of the Night / THE MAGIC FLUTE at the Opera and Theatre Madlenianium and continued performing in the same production in the next seven seasons. In the same role she also made her house debut at the National Theatre in Belgrade (2015) and continued performing in this production in the next three seasons, as well as in Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad (2017). In the season 2014/15 she returned to Opera and Theatre Mladlenianum as Pepi Pleininger / WIENER BLUT, as debuted as Servilia / LA CLEMENZA DI TITO in Operosa Production.
Aleksandra is also active on concert platform and regularly performs with Symphony Orchestra and Choir of Serbian National Broadcasting Corporation - RTS, making notable performances such as including the two New Year`s Concerts (2016; 2018), the world premiere (2017) and the recording (2018) of Božo Banović’s THE LAKE for soprano and symphony orchestra, as well as the soprano solo prerformance in Faure`s and Mozart`s REQUIEM, Gabriel/Eva in Haydn's DIE SCHÖPFUNG and multiple performances of soprano solo in Orf`s CARMINA BURANA, including The Music Night Open-Air performance at Tašmajdan Stadium. Aleksandra also frequently collaborates with other leading ensembles in Serbia and regularly performs on major festivals and concerts in Serbia and the region.
EDUCATION AND PRIZES / AWARDS
Aleksandra started her musical education at the age of 9 and has earned Bachelor`s and Master`s degree both in Musicology and Voice (prof. Aneta Ilić) at the Faculty of Music of the University of Arts, Belgrade. She was awarded by the Belgrade Faculty of Music with ANITA MEZETOVA (2017) and DANICA MASTILOVIĆ (2018) special prizes for the achievements made during her studies.
In 2019 Aleksadra won the 5th prize on SEOUL INTERNATIONAL MUSIC CMPETITION, as well as "SWR Junge Opernstars - EMMERICH SMOLA FÖRDERPREIS". In 2018 she won the 3rd prize at DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NÜRNBERG Competition, in 2017 the 3rd prize on the ADA SARI Vocal Artistry Competition (Nowy Sacz, Poland) and was the first prize winner and category laureate both on the 7th International Competition and Solo Singers festival BRUNA ŠPILER (Herceg Novi, Montenegro, 2014) and on the REPUBLIC COMPETITION of The Association of Music and Ballet Schools of Serbia (2013).
