Bio


One of the leading Macedonian basses, Aleksandar Stefanoski, was born in Skopje in 1982. 

He finished his studies at the National Academy of Music Pancho Vladigerov in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2005, where he also obtained the title Master of opera singing.

With roles such as Fillippo II, il Grande Inquisitore, Oroveso, Zaccaria, Colline, Don Basilio, Raimondo, Don Pasquale, Arnoldo, Sparafucile, Ferrando, young bass Aleksandar Stefanoski is already an asked-for specialist in the lyric repertoire.He has made his debut in theaters such as Teatro alla Scala, Arena di Verona, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Teatro Massimo Bellini,Teatro Lirico Cagliari, Tivoli Festival in Copenhagen and has worked with conductors such as Vasily Petrenko, Esa-Peka Salonnen, Yves Abel, Evelino Pido, Gustav Kuhn, Will Humburg. 

He also met the great conductors Zubin Mehta and Riccardo Muti, and has collaborated with great opera singers like Daniela Dessi, Inva Mula, Lawrence Brownlee, Fabio Armiliato.

Aleksandar Stefanoski is the first Macedonian that had honour to play at the prestigious Teatro alla Scala in Milan. In 2010 he had his debut at Teatro alla Scala with the role of Priest in Janacek’s Z mrtvého domu (Da una casa di morti).

Since 2015, Aleksandar Stefanoski is a member of the ensemble in the Theater Pforzheim and performs the main bass roles like Zaccaria, Seneca, Olsen, Raimondo, Colline, Bartolo, etc.

In 2017 he debut the opera Don Giovanni in the role of Commendatore in the in the Macedonian Opera Theater

2014 Mr.Stefanoski made his debut as Sarastro in the opera The Magic Flute in Teatro Lirico Cagliari.After that he was Ferrando from the opera il Trovatore in Tirana,Albania , and with the same role he was guest in Luglio Trapani Festival in Italy under the button of Massimiliano Stefanelli.Untill the end of the year,Aleksandar will be guest in Warshaw opera house and again in Teatro Lirico Cagliari in Italy.

In 2013 he made 2 debuts in two countries, a recital in Barcelona, Spain in Teatro Nuovo  and after that he sang in the production of Detmold opera house with the opera  Il Trovatore in role of Ferrando in the Theater Leverkusen, Germany

In 2012 Mr. Stefanoski performed roles of Maurizio in Wolf-Ferrari’s I quatro rusteghi at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Nourabad in Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles at Tivoli Concertsalen in Kopenhagen, recital at Auditorium di Music ESRA in Paris, Raimondo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor in Florence, Italy

.In season 2010/2011 Mr. Stefanoski performed roles of Colline in Puccini’s La Bohème at Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, Arnoldo in Donizetti’s Adelia in Toblach, Sparafucile and Count Ceprano in Verdi’s Rigoletto at Teatro Verdi in Sassari, Teatro del Giglio in Lucca, Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, Teatro Comunale in Mantova and Teatro Coccia in Novara, de Fiesque in Donizetti’s Maria di Rohan at Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, Count Monterone in Verdi’s Rigoletto in Catania, Zaccaria in Macedonian National Opera, Mozart’s Requiem at Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania and Teatro Politeama in Palermo, Le Grand Inquisiteur in Verdi’s Don Carlos at Teatri Kombetar i Operas dhe i Baletit in Tirana, where he alternatively prepared the role of Filippo II in the same opera.

In the period 2007-2009 he performed roles of Ferrando in Verdi’s Il Trovatore in Spoleto, Don Basilio in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Seviglia in opera theatres of Spoleto, Perugia,  Assisi, Citta di Castello, Tirana, Savona, Rovigo, Bergamo and Lucca, Oroveso in Bellini’s Norma at Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Vincenzo in Donizetti’s Marino Faliero in Bergamo and Sassari, Sparafucile in Verdi's Rigoletto in Spoleto.

He has many recitals with pianist Darko Marinovski, one of is recital at manifestation Days of Macedonian Culture in Washington in 2008, also concert together with famous opera singer Inva Mula on Ohrid summer festival in Macedonia.

Mr. Stefanoski participated at Master classes with professors Renata Scotto, Bonaldo Giaiotti, Vito Brunetti, Antonio Boyer, Mirella Parutto, and won several scholarships for studying opera singing in Vienna and Rome.

Mr. Stefanoski was awarded several prizes on international competitions.He won the  international competition in Spoleto (2007), Grand Opera Paris (2007), world proven contest Arena di Verona (2009), State competition in Bitola (1997), Macedonian State competition chamber ensembles (1999), international singing competition for young classical music talents in Sofia (2000), an Order Cyril and Methodius for best foreign performer of classical opera music in Sofia (2003), special award Hristo Brmbarov at the first academic competition for opera singing in Sofia (2004), Award of Merit from Municipality of Kisela Voda, Macedonia
