Bio


An active presence on the Romanian operatic stage, a name familiar to music lovers and acclaimed by the critics, Adrian Morar is an artis twhose career is in full flight. An authentic, meticulous musician, endowed with extraordinary talent, Adrian Morar conducts works from symphonic and vocal symphonic repertoires with the same imposing presence and professional exigency.                              Since 1995 he has been the conductor of the Romanian National Opera in Cluj. He made his debut at the National Opera in Bucharest in 2001 and since then has been invited back to conduct various performances, acting as artistic director in 2006-2007 season. Between 2002 and 2006, he mounted the rostrum of the Athenaeum Symphony Orchestra in Bucharest to conduct a series of concerts, fructifying the experience he had previously gained as conductor of the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj. In parallel, he has conducted at opera houses in Belgrad, Timisoara, Jassy, Constanta,  Craiova and hungarian opera from Cluj Napoca.            Adrian Morar has been guest conductor of the philharmonic orchestras of every major city in Romania: Bucharest, Cluj, Jassy, Brasov, Sibiu, Botosani, Craiova, Timisoara, Targu-Mures, Satu-Mare, Oradea, Ploiesti and also of the radio orchestras in Bucharest. He has conducted touring concerts and performances in Switzerland, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Hungary and Thailand.             In the company of the various ensembles he has conducted, Adrian Morar has taken part in various festivals: "Cluj Modern" festival of contemporary music (1996), Bartok-Puccini (Miskolc, Hungary, 2002 and 2006), the Bangkok International Dance and Music Festival (2002), Golden Voices of the Opera (Cluj, 2003 and 2004), St. Dimitrios (Thessaloniki, 2003), Schubertiada (Bucharest, 2003), Festival la Citadelle (Ile d'Yeu, France, 2004) and the Georges Enesco International Festival (Bucharest, 2007, 2013).             His merits were acknowledged when he was awarded the Ludovic Spiess Prize in 2002, the Lya Hubic Trophy in 2009 and Value of  Jassy Opera Prize in 2012
